Any recommendations?  My 7 year old daughter rides with me,  but wants to go by herself and can't pop the board up to get started.

At that age and assumed size little skims are often use or there are a handful of small surf style boards geared towards youth.

I like the Scamp as well but I like the Inland Surfer Ooze the best.  The reason?  You can put 3 fins on it and it is super stable.  My kids both learned on one

I have the scamp for my nieces and nephews. 10 year old nephew has started to ride it the past two years. I think my 8 year old niece will graduate from riding with me to the scamp. I like the idea of that zup too, nice find H.

I second the ZUP board.  It works great getting them started for both wakeboarding and surfing.  Then we went to this inexpensive board https://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Hyperlite-Ripper-Wakesurfer&i=321685&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=googlebase&s_kwcid=googlepla&cvsfa=2587&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=333231363835&s_kwcid=adwords__&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgMnYBRDRARIsANC2dfkXr5OfZta4KnETOORoGfUZXUuwWjdRcNXN-4MJYmsa9_YJeYVvpjkaAquWEALw_wcB  My 9 year old can still lay on it to start, go up to his knees, and then stand for surfing.

Although not a surf board we have one of these. https://zup.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwgMnYBRDRARIsANC2dflXaW1gag-u52EhZ4DXO4hZqqMmDgi0yOvAUpzQWPd8J2mOTuE6d we start all the littles on it. It's a great way to get them comfortable behind the boat and build confidence before they move to a real board.

We actually used the HO sure shot (www.wakehouse.com/products/ho-sure-shot-platform-trainer.html?dfw_tracker=10071-2854&gclid=Cj0KCQjwgMnYBRDRARIsANC2dfmOX0Lb1O241didaeM0MI8FzQN3lxl-bNe_vF4JzJ9q5gpVCSt0E8QaA) when she was 2 1/2 for 2 summers.  In the beginning I would wake skate next to her to be there when she fell.   Then we got her a wake board when she was 4 and she does well with that.    Now she sees us surfing and of course want to do that.

M girls have been riding a ZUP board since last summer, they both enjoy that since its really stable and they can move around on it without getting dumped easily. My young nephew who is 6yrs old will stand up on it and ride back behind the boat about 20-25ft. Trying to ease my girls into standing up on it this summer as I manually pull them into the wave so they can get a feel for surfing without being scared. Great board for kids cause even when not comfortable standing up yet, they can lay down, knee board with it or sit cross legged really easy to have fun. Bonus that they do not have to hold onto the rope since it attaches to the board as well
