So Jbird - I was a member of the St.FYC 20+ years ago when I raced for them; Look at the Jr. Yatchsman of the year trophy or google it from the St. Francisc YC and you'll see my name from 1988 or 1989. I raced lasers and Finns for them years ago, was a 2 time member of the US Sailing Team too and competed in 2 Olympic Trials (88,92). I would teach sailing at Tinsley Island during a few weeks each summer and race the Nagy Team Races there too.

Such great, fond memories of that place. In the world there is only one!

Nice talk about moving to the darkside. In all ye worlds there is one one. I've been a member for 3 years now but my step dad (you may know him Buz Cox) has been a lifer. This is a great place for the kids and adults.

So how did you go from sailing to surfing. Funny I rowed in the nationals. I made the move from being the motor 5 seat to power boats. We'll have to get you back up here for some surfing.

I had all the intentions of adding to this thread tonight. However, mother nature got in the way. Saturday, we packed up headed tot he storage and it started to rain out of nowhere. Heck, the sun was still out and it was raining. So we headed back to the house for plan B. Today, got up, packed and headed out again. Got to the lake, launched and was heading out and then the blackest clouds rolled in within an hour. We see tons of boats heading our way and people yelling its a hail storm. Head back to the launch as fast as we could. loaded up, started to rain, made it back to the storage, wiped down the boat and the bottom fell out of the sky. And yes, hail. so large that it cracked my windshield on 2 places. Once stopped, headed to the house, break out the subway, watched a movie until I fell asleep and now I am here. We will try this again next weekend! To be continued....

Oh, that sucks man. Was it the boat or truck windshield that got cracked?

Let me clear it up a little. The window on my personal vehicle cracked. The boat windows are good because I put the front cover on as we were heading back in, well the wife did, just before it started to rain and she was getting the other cover ready. At the dock she put most of it on while I went to get the trailer and as soon as I had the boat loaded we jumped out and finished getting the cover on. As we were heading back to the storage, within 2 miles, the hail started coming down hard and while I was almost to the storage entrance 2 large ice balls crack the wind shield. One crack all the way across the windshield and the other put a nice birds eye w/ a 4 inch crack. Boat is safe and sound as I inspected it.

Last night surfing. Camera ran out of batteries so we didn't get a lot of shots which is too bad because we had our first night with a big crew. We'll try again tonight!

I spent all day up at Pineview Res on Saturday for the wifes family reunion. My sole job was giving pulls on the tube and boards. had a good time. The wife stayed on shore with the new camera and camcorder so I wasnt able to get any shots with those.
