has anyone made their own LED underwater lights? I ordered some LED 50/50 lights yesterday based on another forum. They were $3.00. You then surround them with inclusion epoxy in a mold and wire them up. I will update this thread as I move forward but they will not arrive for a couple of weeks. I am basing it off of this thread.

Well the lights arrived today. I tested one of them and it is not as bright as I would have hoped. You still do not want to look directly at them but the red color I think is a bit lower in intensity than the others. Now to decide what to mold them in with the inclusion epoxy. So far though I have 6 lights and am into it $13 so if they do not work it no biggie as I have wasted $$ on more foolish things.

I have them in the housing with hot glue so they are ready for the inclusion resin. Once that is poured it's time to solder wire to the two connections that come out the back and wire them in. Leaving for Costa Rica the lake Powell on Saturday. Not sure if I can make the deadline

What are you using for the housing? I tried to find some of those furniture leg cups but couldn't find them.

looks like a 2" black pvc cap. Home depot, lowes, or any hardware store should have them

Well just had an issue pouring the inclusion resin. Apparently the hot glue did not seal all the way so resin running out the bottom makes for a big mess

Not far at all. I am hoping to have them poured tonight. I am going to do the two that I already attempted prior. I have taken and silicone on two water bottle lids with holes cut out for spacers. I will then silicone on the lids to those and inject silicone into it from the back so to seal it off. Then pour the resin. I am guessing I would have them ready for Powell as I leave for a Job interview (promotion) tomorrow. getting back on Wednesday.

Well two are in. I will test at lake Powell in a week and see if I need/want two more on back. I attached them with rtv right now as I want as few holes in my boat as possible. ec4e3082df231a9637a395398ea1cc11.jpgd9046649a5df852acd082ecb1a8d880d.jpg
