New stereo coming for the 210

The Xi12 is a good sounding woofer...............for a cellulose-based cone

Seriously. For that price range, why not the fully marine built Wet Sounds XS-12 or even the JL 12W3? I know for sure, the XS-12 and 12W3 will not require as large as an enclosure.

I totally agree for that price range space is a commodity and a XS12 or 12w3 would be best, in sound and space :)

The rest is a permanent install as you prolly won't upgrade the amp or revs before you sell the boat :)

Please make sure the Revs are tuned by a real professional that uses equiptment due to the high power they will receive. The reason I say this is because many go this route and do it themselves, then complain when they blow them up due to poor tuning.. :)

It's being done by a pro shop here locally, for what they are changing, it's not worth doing it myself :) thanks for the ideas on the other woofers, but thinking the price I am paying for that Xi12 the others, are quite a bit more....

The wetsounds is about double and the JL is about triple, what I think I am seeing is, some dealers have left over stock, from when the dollar was even or maybe around 1.03, and now it's around 1.33 and let's say and equipment price increase of around 3 to 5%, and thats why the huge price swings. It also looks like I will be removing the Heater unit as well, as it's pretty do useless to me and a winterizing pain in the butt

Boatnut will you be removing the entire heater? I.e. everything to be able to sell it as a whole unit ready to install? If so I might be interested in buying it.

I am thinking the whole thing minus the vents, , as the holes will still be there :)

If you were doing it yourself, I'd've offered a practically new SD-6 for a discount and tax savings...

A heater is a heater, there a tapping on the top of the block and another on the water pump. 6a231fcc78ff2e03c7ebfa6bd875add0.jpg128674a06c1b8e7ce9c4621f5a2425ca.jpg

I was gonna say the same thing. I'd maybe be interested in the heater.

What shop you using for he install?

Truekaotik, how does one blow Rev's? I assume by cranking the gains too high?

Gonna use 360 fabrication, where did you buy your amps?

Good question since we have to get ours tuned and don't want to ruin them!!

Yes that is partially it, the other one is not realizing when your loosing power and the systems goes to distortion on partial notes... This happens later in the day, you will hear voltage sage as the same scenario. Your professional installer, if equiptment is on hand, will tune your system to the static voltage (sittings without engine running) to the clipping/distortion point and back it down a hair. Now tuning a vehicle is different... Edited by truekaotik

First and foremost, excessive power. So if the amp has the potential to power the speaker near its thermal capacity, you need to dial the gain back to a safe point. Next most common culprit is driving the amp into a constant state of clipping. This causes the amps output to go erratic and can spike well above its stated wattage. too low a cross-over point can over drive a speaker. Dirty downloads can be bad. Excessive EQ'ing, boost the dB of those frequencies, can lead to a blown driver.

LOL.... Forgot to say...

Bottom line guys, your installer will inform you of all the set points and go thru the system at delivery if they are as good as they say....

Oh yeah!? I've heard good things about them. Coworker had his Corvette repainted there and told me about some crazy mobile stage RV they made.

I got all my equipment from ExtremeBoatsport. Rolled it into the total purchase price! Fortunately most of my equipment was already in stock, bought at the old $ exchange!

Tna has some smoking deals as well, last year's stock,..... As for cranking my system.... I never really have it that loud, looking for quality vs quantity, might go with the JL 12w3 sub as well, , going in tomorrow morning.. Should have by Saturday... Might hit cultus Lake after I pick it up or Sunday, who's in???

Ya but what if the installer is ME? I'm in the boondocks and no installer here does marine on a regular basis. All my stuff came from WS online retailer.

That's why all the questions. I want to make sure I do it right. I plan on hitting up Odin at Earmark for some pointers as well. Bad tuning can not only ruin equipment but make a great system sound like A$$ so I want to get it done right.
