Advice On S238 Order

Recommended Posts

I have ordered an S238 with the H6DI 450 hp engine (I am in Colorado at over 5000 ft), rear plug and play 550 lb bags and quick surf. We are new wake surfers. I would welcome advice on setting up the wave. Thanks very much.

First get 10 bags of pop products. Put 2 of them under the rear bags and 3 of them on each side under the seats closest to the back. There is a little lip where the quick fill tank goes from higher to lower. (You will see the quick fill vent there) Stack the 3 bags on the lip!

Then:

Surf left:

All ballast full except leave starboard quickfill empty.

10-12 MPH, play with speed. All paddle wheels are a bit different. Use GPS speed app on your phone...

Play with the center trim tab to shorten/lengthen wave.

Surf left tab all the way down. Surf right tab all the way up.

When I was at the factory they told me the 238 was the #1 selling boat in it's size class across all brands and the #1 selling boat for fineline this year outselling all other models they offer.

Yep. If you were to order one today, you'd be well into summer before getting it.

The factory is telling me a ladder can be mounted in the middle of the underside of the swim platform on my S238 without messing up the wave and without spraying the surfer. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

Did not know that was an option. Personally I don't see the need. When surfing the deck is under water so it is easy to climb on.

It is not an option from the factory. But they said it is ok to add. My S238 will be used for general boating, swimming, etc. by family from very young kids to very old me!

When you are floating and just playing in the water fill the two rear hard tanks to sink the rear of the boat. This should make getting on the swim deck easier. I would give it a try before bolting on a ladder. I think you will find it to be a non issue.

My wife has wanted me to instal a ladder for some of our "less active" friends... I've refused to do it. It would definitely make it easier for them and older folk. Even with the platform in the water like H says, it can be difficult for some.

I am 67. One knee is bad. The other is worse. Unless someone has tried the ladder and had a bad experience, I am going to try it and will post results here in May or June when I have some experience with the ladder.

We just fill our quick fills or sometimes our Plug and Play if someone needs a little help......brings the step down low enough you just kind of crawl on then get up. We have been leaving our quick fills full often times when swimming as its just that much easier.

We've done 2 of them, just peel back the swim platform pad. Drill holes, counter sink so screw heads are flush, mount the retractable ladder and put the pad back on. Easy.

Thanks Boot Jucier. Do you know whether the ladder interfered with the surf wave or sprayed the surfer? Thanks again.

Boot Juicer is just the name that goes along with how many posts he's made. As you make more and more posts, it changes. You'll eventually be a boot juicer as well ;)

Fresh fish: Haven't heard any complaints but anything is possible. We mount the swim ladder in the middle of the swim platform, so not likely.
