What happened to truck prices?

Recommended Posts

In 2008 I went with my dad to buy a new loaded f150 fx4 and after 3 trips we brought it home for 27k dollars. I went truck shopping this week and was astonished at the prices! A new fx4 is what 50+ MSRP?! and actually selling around 40k+?! That just seems crazy thinking about walking out at under 30 grand. I looked at some tundras too and we butted heads about how toyota doesnt take money off list price until I got heated and left.

Why even buy a half ton if a diesel 250/0 350/0 is gonna pull the same $?

I understand things get more expensive but gracious 15k dollar increase in under a decade?

Well your first problem is your looking at fords :p

Go to a Chevrolet dealer find a 1500 for around 38-43k offer them 32k OTD and see where it goes!

One thing is make sure the dealership is offering every rebate avalible.

I just got my 2500 (gas engine) for 46k OTD :)

Well Atleast you didn't buy a gasser dodge :p I have no clue what a good deal on a Chevy is as we have never been a Chevy truck family, strictly fords until we got a 4Runner so I like toyotas (its reliability is killer)

You're OTD price on that 2500 seems more reasonable to me. Do they still run allison trans?

I was just astonished that I could get a 6.7 250 for the same as a 5.0 150.

I'm not completely against a gm but would probably go ahead to a duramax and make my own biodiesel

How are you liking it so far?

LOL I remember shelling 36k for my 02 Dmax in 02.

My 03 Dodge Ram was $32k. My father in law brought home a Laramie package with all the bells and whistles and it was $35k.

Works even better if you do a 2ft lift so the running lights are directly in the persons mirror and eyes. If you don't have that much cash though just do the front and rock that "Carolina squat"

A buddy of mine picked up a lease return Tundra with 800 miles on it in it's current year. Something about used Toyotas get extended warranty. He ended up paying $30k for a 4x4 extended longbox and got 7 years bumper to bumper! I've gotta get him to do my truck shopping for me!

Last year I think.

Ford came out WAY ahead after that bailout BS a few years ago.

Yeah they did. I don't want to narrow myself by us being a "ford family" and give everyone else a chance, of course cummins is good stuff, and allison trans are spoken highly of. Its funny how EVERY manufacturers interiors took a massive leap around 08-10. Anyone on here have experience with the ford 6.4s? I only know 1 person and he had a massive turbo failure that ended up being $$$ but every truck has its issues and lemons. It seems to get better reviews than the 6.0s

dark, where you saying last year for your buddies tundra or for h20king's dodge

If you want to save some money, look at a Ram. The Cummins is hard to beat
