I find a I get a whine when connected by Bluetooth, do you have a ipod connected by cable? , that I find the best., connected by cable, I think Wylie and K would agree, all the grounds run back to the same point.. Also try and keep rca's and speaker wires as far as possible from the positive battery wires...

My inboats had it before, but adjusted the gain and it went away

This tells me its in the system, but due to the sensitivity, you dialed it back to where its not heard from the in-boats, but still heard in the large HLCD.

So, start upstream of the amps.

What generation EQ? If its an SQ, move the ground jumper under the top cover.

Ok, now that i turned the page, I see you have the SQ. Have you moved the ground jumper?

Need to make 100% sure that ALL of the amps, head-unit, EQ, BT and even ipod charge cable share the same battery source.

How audible is the hiss and is it in all modes like tuner CD, SAT, BT, etc?

Ground is moved. I'll check different sources when I can. Thanks for more ideas!

The hiss is very noticeable. Not so much when the boat is running though.

All sources/modes have the same hiss. I haven't checked to see if EVERYTHING is wired to batt2 but the HU and everything I've installed is. There is two remote pods(don't know the actual term) and one USB/headphone jack that I guess COULD be on a different battery.

After I finished putting the cover back on, I wondered if the mic itself could cause this issuers it's only audible through the towers. I'll unhook it next time and try.

The remote pods, come off the head unit win a big DIN cable, they don't have separate power.. As well as the USB and headphone jack, they are connected directly to the head unit

It's only really noticeable when paused. But it's always there.

Thanks boatnut for that info

Next time you pause the tunes, turn the volume down on your phone/mp3 and listen to what the level of the hiss does.

Will do. I've always had it maxed on the phone.

White noise is normal when the music stops and in some case, worse when using BT over the AUX cable. when you turn down the phone volume, the noise goes away. Now, if the hiss/noise is present when there is a gap in between songs of a CD, thats something i would dig deeper into.

Yes Dark... This will be a noise floor issue that tuning more will fix... Slight movements on the wet sounds Syn series..

Yuh heading out this weekend?

Not sure. Maybe Friday or just a quick dip on Saturday. Work Sunday. Unless the weather is unreal. It's May long weekend, so lake might be nuts.
