Switchblade or trim tab for surfing

Recommended Posts

ENZODAYZ    3

My crew and I all surf goofy. I rock an Enzo 230 with an Enzo sack and 200 lbs. of lead. I am looking to upgrade to a switchblade or powered wakeplate. Which is going to help the surf wave on the dark side the best? :spiteful:

YOURE IN MO-TOWN?

I LIVE IN SALIDA!

FINALLY SOMEONE CLOSE TO ME.

most people here are from texas, utah, or idaho.

its finally good to find someone who actually lives close to me.

but anyways, back to your question...

its cheaper to go with the trim tab and you dont have to take it on and off when driving it on the road.

but. the SB will give you a much bigger wake. it also costs a lot more.

ill let the more experienced be more specific with details...

but here is some good to know.

my buddy has a 230 with midship tanks and a SB.

ive gone without the SB: pretty nice, good for the average goofy [[i am also goofy]] surfer.

ive gone with the SB: so much bigger, and cleaner and amazing.

i have a c4 avy with the bennet trim tab, its better than nothing...

but if i had the money i would go for the SB.

my .O2.

I think if you just leave the dark side and come over and surf on the correct side you really don't need the blade or the wakeplate!!! Easy solution that won't cost you anything and no new holes in the boat!!! :surfing2::crybaby::Surfing:

I have yet to find anyone that will say that the goofy surf wake is better with the SB than without it. IMO the SB will actually capture the prop wash on the goofy side and make it more pronounced, which is the problem on the goofy side to begin with, prop wash coming through the wake. On our 240 with the Bennet trim tab all the way down, enzo sac, center tank, stock boaw sac and around 7 people we are able to produce te goofy wake below.

Same setup on the regular side.

One of the crew, I think Packrat has the best of both worlds, see below

but, I have not seen pictures of the wake. There are not any around us or I would have talked them into talking us out and lettting us play with it. So unless you have a right rotation/surf right boat I would not spend the money on a SB until you see for yourself that it makes the wave you are looking for.

Was this on a regular rotation or surf right boat?

Don't do either, change your transmission for reverse rotation and get a new prop. It was done last year at the Texas wakesurf comp and didn't sound all that bad. I don't remember if the process was written up here or over on the WW website. Wakedoc: wasn't it www.wakeoutlaws.com that did it?

I thought it was cheaper than paying retail of a blade at $4k?

Here's an old thread that may help: http://www.centurioncrew.com/Great-Goofy-W...itch-t1404.html

Thanks for your suggestions. I guess I should of named the topic, I have a busted switchblade, should I fix it or install a trim tab? I have surfed with the switchblade a few times before it broke. I was trying to decide if it's worth having it fixed or if I should just install a trim tab. Which would be the best way to improve the goofy wave?

Spud, I ride at Don Pedro and the Delta.

What broke on it? It should make the wave better and you should keep it.

Best way to improve the wave is to switch the rotation of the prop. I don't know exactly what this takes but I think it's just a tranny or a v-drive switch.

i also go to don pedro and lake camanche.

doc, the boat i was one was standard surf left rotation.

sorry, my pictures are all mixed up and i dont remember which ones are with and without.

enzodayz, you should be able to call centurion in merced and take it to them and they should be able to fix it.

or take it to the dealer if its under warranty.

its most likely the computer stuff, same problem happened to my buddy.

you should just get it fixed since you already have the hydrolics on it. it costs too much to plug the holes, and you wont get the same amount of wake with the trim tab.

my 2cents.
