Gas strut for bow storage hatch?

Recommended Posts

Thought I saw this topic covered before but cannot find it (pitiful search skills, I presume).

2007 Typhoon, the storage hatch in the front-center of the bow (anchor/bumper storage for me) rotates up but: a) does not stay open under its own weight, B) does not have a strut to keep it open.

Anyone worked-out the gas strut size and mounting locations to keep that hatch open?

Thanks Troy, that is the thread I needed and was unable to find. Looks like a 2-beer mod, max. My oft-bruised head will be forever indebted to the Crew.

Unless the wife asks! Then it's an all day job and a couple buddies to assist. LOL

I've always used the center pole for my cover to hold it up when tinkering around the house, but would be nice to add a strut for out on the water.

I think I might do this as well.

Yes. Currently I use a piece of PVC pipe cut to length that I store under the bow cushion also. So this will cut down on one step and the seldom act of knocking the pipe out by accident while my accessing the anchor.
