Winterize-Do I Need To

Recommended Posts

lyonboarder    4

I will be storing my boat in heated storage 50 degrees.  Any reason to winterize the boat?  Other than the heat in storage going out, any other benefit to winterizing?  When I had my boat in SoCal I never winterize it.  Now I am in Utah.

Like you said only issue is if power goes out for extended period and you lose heat. I’d drain the water just to be safe, super easy and quick to do.

x2...I would drain for peace of mind and if you have a heater, make sure you blow out the lines since that is the first thing to get damage along with a plastic perko valve if you have one

You should probably winterize. If the power goes out during one of our extended cold spells you are at risk.

I'd pull the drain plugs and blow out a heater if you have it. I'd also change my oil before storage...I just like storing on fresh oil.
