Regarding the Neptune 8.0

My friend has them in his Mojo. Darn nice sounding speaker at surfing distances. I didn't get to hear them further back. The owner loves them and says they are plenty loud when he wakeboards. I just checked the price and the things are EXPENSIVE.

 

While I've become a Wetsounds guy I think it's good to check out the other options.

Will it beat a rev10... I don't personally think so. It is expensive...

The Neptune 8 is an 8" mid-bass driver so its in the neighborhood of the Rev-8 and Icon-8. However, its not a true HLCD, nor is it a dome tweeter like on the icon. Its component style bullet tweeter kind of falls in the middle. It will have greater peak output than a dome tweeter, but lacks the sound quality. Wont have the narrow coned focus and projection on an HLCD as it does not have the horn flare.

 

From a dollar standpoint, 2 pair of Icon-8 will have similar peak output but more mid-bass than a pair of Neptune 8. Pure wake range projection, a single pair of Rev-8 will have greater peak output and still have good near field SQ, but less expensive.
