Prop 817 v 497

I have an 07 Avalanche, gear ratio is 1:146. Prop is 497 (13.0 dia, 17.5 pitch, 0.105 cup)

 

My buddy has an 05 Avalanche, gear ratio is 1:146. Prop is 817 (13.5 dia, 17.5 pitch, 0.150 cup)

 

My 497 puts up a larger wake for surfing, why?

 

His 817 has more hole shot and higher top speed, why?

 

What recommendation do you have for my 07 that will give me the best wakesurfing wake, but better hole shot?

I had an 817 on my 05 avalanche (stock prop) and top speed was good but wouldn't do well with a lot of ballast. I upgraded to a 537 and it worked well for me. I'm at sea level. Call acme let them know your application and they will stear you in the right direction.
