Stereo static on tower speakers

Hey there, boat is new to me and I’m getting a lot of static noise thru the tower speakers.  I checked connections at the speaker themselves.  Also checked at the amp. 
Everything seems fine there.  Was told to check the amp and adjust gain down.. but only place I can see gain adjustment is on the clarion head unit itself.  Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Boat may have DSP amps that use a loaded tune, so no consumer level adjustments. Or the adjustments could be behind a protective cover, so not be exposed to the elements. Scratchy static is typically not excessive gain, where as a slight hiss is common to over gain. 

With the RCA disconnected from the amp, is the noise gone or still there?

yes I just unplugged rca.. and there is still noise coming thru tower speakers.

That eliminates everything upstream then.
