Lake Powell

Hey guys, I saw the other thread on this subject but didn't want to hijack. I have been to Powell a couple times, years ago, and have sworn to go back as I consider it to be one of those "must see" places. The plan is to go for my 40th birthday which is in August 2013. It doesn't have to be in August, so pretty much anytime pre/post or middle of summer 2013. Where is the best place to start as far as renting a houseboat, when is the best time to go, how far in advance should I start booking, etc, etc. I appreciate any and all information.

 

Long story short, I've been a couple times but have never been the organizer so I merely paid my share and showed up. More than likely I'll be the one organizing, driving the boat, bringing the boat, etc this time around so I want to be prepared. Thanks!
