Trottle/shifter Goes limp

Ever since i purchased my 05 cyclone i've noticed this weird problem.... as you see in the picture the Chrome ring and shifter(it's one piece) should be in the deeper in the shifter consol, almost if i'm missing a pin to keep it in. Finding the neutral postion is a pain when it pops out and hangs

 

Has this ever happened to anyone else on this forum?

the chrome ring and the shifter arm are two pieces remove the arm index the shifter mechanism then lock in place with chrome ring then reinstall the shifter arm
