Soon to be first-time boat owner... words of wisdom?
Troy replied to p5Cent's topic in Centurion Boats General Discussion
Where are you located? Maybe someone from here could meet up and help out. I’m in DFW area and I would. Lots to learn being new. BUT the willingness to learn makes huge strides. If the dealer is close don’t be afraid of going back. Dealer support is huge. It is a boat, it will need to be worked on. Down here in TX the listed price will most likely be the price. Hard to find a Centurion for sale. I don’t take a low ball as bad, I just don’t accept it. If you’re willing to go higher, talk to the dealer. If you can’t go higher (budget), talk to the dealer, they might have a trade that would work for you coming in. My $.02. -

Air Chairs are awesome and fun. We bought one about a year ago and just started riding this summer. Great times. -
2009 Enzo SV220 End of the season deal??
Troy replied to Adsprog's topic in Centurion Boats General Discussion
Harold had a Falcon V 2008/2009 which was the same hull as the SV220, and had his wave dialed. Hopefully he will reply here or on FB. I tagged him on your post on FB a few days ago. -
Yes. OK back in they day, centurion actually did big cut outs. Yours is where a plate should go, yes. I did a write up on my A-plate, it should be searchable. If I get time this weekend I'll try to find the thread.

DMMontana. Let’s see the transom of your Avy. My boat listed. Little different depending on crew. But basically the same.
-
When mine is listed, a shaper would be out the water. I'll share a picture of mine ready to surf when I get a chance from my phone. An Avy throws a beautiful wave. Love the shape and push my wave has.

My 08 Avy listed. Just my wife in the boat.

Personally, I would wait and build a custom sac. I went from 1100's to custom, wish I saved the cash and just went custom first off.

Ive done several treads also about my Avy ballast projects. I redid my sprinkler valves with the electric ball valves and very happy with the outcome. -
Oil Extraction, Dipstick Tube or Drain Hose?
Troy replied to Troy. R's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
I like the idea of a screw on fitting on the oil drain tube. Just letting the oil drain out, doesn't work for crap. With a vacuum pump and a screw on fitting, I bet that works great! -
CATs it the center articulating tracking fin, something like that. I wouldn't worry about the boats with the factory tabs till you get to an Ri, Fi, or Vi. the older hulls liked to be listed. IF you want to swap sides often then look into infinity tabs or GSA tabs, both will out do the factory tabs on these era boats. Once you get into surfing, pretty much all the other sports will slowly fade away.
-
My $.02. 2012 SV233 will surf awesome listed. If you want to swap sides a lot, I would look into infinity tabs to add to the boat. Wakeboarding, the wake will be wide and weight sensitive, and you will have to go faster to clean up both sides. (That is how it is on my Avy) Does the SV233 have CATs? If it does that will help both the wakeboard wake clean up and the surf wave shape.

Down Fire Zone Control Issue
Troy replied to Brandon's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
To find out which amp is which. Have the radio playing and unplug the RCA's (note where the rca's are plugged in and colors) from the amp and listen to which speakers stopped playing. -
08 Centurion Avy C4 - Bilge pump question
Troy replied to dlee434's topic in Centurion Boats General Discussion
I pulled my v-drive and did everything myself (2008 Avy). Difficult but not impossible. If you're good with automotive, I think you could do the swap your self. -

Oil & filter recommendations
Troy replied to TruTrakII's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
I use a few walmart bags with papertowels in the bottom. I do my best to position the bags under the filter, then loosen the filter and have the bags catch the old oil. Not really that hard or messy now that I have a system. -

I have the 330hp Black Scorpion but my oil filter is upside down at the front of the engine, starboard side. -
07 sv240 Ballast location ????
Troy replied to JakeJake's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
1 each rear locker. 1 under port seat, mid cabin. 1 under starboard seat, mid cabin. one center under floor. That should be the 5. Looks like you found the cabin ones. Ones that are left are the ones in the lockers by the engine. They could of been replaced with bags. Not to many people leave the factory hard tanks. -

Speaker Whine When Engine Is On
Troy replied to JakeC's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
sounds like an amp issue. If the amp + and - are ran directly to the battery (straight, no coils) and you unplugged the RCA's and the noise is still there, I would point at a bad amp. Back in the day I installed an amp temporarily and had my wires coiled because the permanent install was farther away, and I had noise. I uncoiled the wire and the noise went away. For the temporary install I just ran the wires back and forth like an S instead of a coil.
