  1. As the title states after recently installing a new amp and set of Wetsound tower speakers on my boat I have an engine whine while the engine on. I installed the speakers in my garage and couldn't of been happier with performance, however after getting onto the lake it quickly became apparent that there was a very noticeable engine noise in the new set of speakers. Some info about the setup and what I have tried so far. There are now two amps in the boat each of which are a different brand and draw different amounts of power, both amps + and - wires are attached to the same terminals on the second battery. The amp driving the onboard speakers does not have any engine noise. The new amp has a different gauge wire powering it since it required more power than the already wire amp. I tried disconnecting the RCA cables (which run from the head unit and then split right before the two amps) from the new amp but the noise still persists, only disconnecting the speaker wires running to the tower speakers makes the noise go away. This noise also shows up even with a minimal amount of gain set on the new amp. I am out of ideas on what could be causing this since the other amp does not have this problem.
  2. I purchased a used Enzo SV240 at the beginning of last summer and couldn't be more happy with the wake I was able to achieve after upgrading many of the ballasts. The sound system on the boat is next up to be upgraded, currently the tower speakers can barely be heard when wakesurfing. After some inspection to the system I believe the issue is due to under sized amplifier for the number of speakers on board. Currently the boat has a Kicker MX350.4 channel amplifier which can put out 60 watts RMS x 4 or 175 watts RMS x 2. This amplifier is rigged such that the tower speakers (Skylon 8" pair https://www.the-house.com/wbskrub325utsp8zz-skylon-tower-sepakers.html) are operating in bridged mode while the in boat speakers (6 Skylon 6" in boat speaker) are powered together in the four channel mode. I would like to get a better sound experience in my boat and I am thinking upgrading the amp is the perfect place to start. My question is should I simply try to find an amp big enough to power all these speakers or should I add an additional amp to power the tower speakers and then use this one to only power the onboard speakers. Thanks for the help!
  3. Just purchased a 97 Elite. The previous owner briefly explained the set up, but it would have been better to have it in writing lol. I would like to understand exactly what I have going on here and how to use it properly. Obviously 2 amps, 3 batteries, battery selector, and an isolater. To the run the boat basically have it in the ON position Engine off but listening to music have it in ON position While at home and charging have it in COMBINED position Boat off, not charging have it in OFF position. I only have my charger hooked up to the red top, my understanding is if the switched is on COMBINED, all 3 batteries will receive a charge? Thanks!
  4. Hey Everyone! Lets compile some of the best hits of all time (and new ones we have found) for being out on the water. Don't know how many of yall use Spotify but I can go through and make a playlist ( or a couple by genre/mood) for everyone to have when we are out on the water next summer! Or for you jerks that get to board all winter... Anyway, suggestions for format of playlists, are of course welcome, and I will try to keep up with edits to this post(assuming that is possible) with the song list as people add tunes.
  5. Upgrading Audio Equipment

I'm gonna give this one a shot and see what the opinions I receive are. This is my first post so bear with me. I'm sure I am beating a dead horse with this kind of question. My Story: My family just bought an 08' Avalanche C4 and of course everything was stock. It has the advanced package with the sideswipe exhaust and triple ballast tanks. The motor only had 51 hours and it was a good fit for what we were looking for. Most of my experience with wake boats originally was with an 08' Mastercaft X2 that I drive for my neighbors and there guests and I tend to compare a lot of things to that boat since it was the first wake boat I used. Apples and Oranges between the two but sometimes it slips up when I'm relating what I have used with what we bought/want. The objective: I plan on upgrading all the interior speakers and adding a subwoofer. At some point I will add new tower speakers but that will most like will take place later. I have done a ton of research on different brands and have looked at specifications for days as well as differences in each brand and make/model. I've narrowed my search down to Wetsounds and Exile Audio. I have heard that these guys are the Ford vs. Chevy as far as the marine speakers go, but that is only hearsay. The main attraction to Exile is that I am getting the same amount of quality as wet sounds offers (if not better) for a much better price. I'm trying to keep it around $2000 or less, and I feel like with the exile brand I should be able to stay in that price range. Other brands I have looked at are JL, Polk, Roswell, Rockford Fosgate, etc. I have always been pretty sold on wetsounds being the cream of the crop and I am trying to make the most informed decision so I don't end up making the wrong decision. In addition to the spekears, I know I'll have to get all the wiring packages and amps, and I intend to eventually install either a Wetsounds or Exile equalizer in the cockpit. My question: Is exile really all it is cracked up to be? I.E. Sound quality, customer service, reliability. How are the amps? If you have either of these brands what do you see as the pros and cons? Have any idea of a dealer for exile in North Carolina? If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! If I'm out of line for even posting these questions I apologize. I know these forum things can get pretty touchy if you continue to cover a topic multiple times in the same section. I appreciate the help!
  6. I know it's not brand new, 1998, but it has a small wake plate and some aftermarket bags. Even one in the front footwell, which I'm planning on moving into the left ski locker area. Pics here: http://web.me.com/mark_armstrong/Site/Centurian.html So why this post? The RADIO SUCKS, aka, non existent, and as you can see, NO TOWER SPEAKERS!!!! Sold my Larson I/O for this boat, so we can wakesurf, but I need audio suggestions and help that fits our budget. Here is my initial thoughts, spend a "small" amount of money to: - Put a new HU in, preferably with wireless remote. Pyle fits the budget... maybe upgrade next year. - Put in an old car AMP that I have had since pulled out of my last car (see attached), it's an ALPINE V12, 4/3/2 channel - Buy some Wetsounds or Polk tower cans, I found them used on craigslist for around $300. - I have an old 12inch sub I was planning on installing in the driver footwell. About the only place. So my question to you audio folks, is this a good initial set up? We are trying to spend LESS THAN $1,000 bucks, prefer to spend less than 600 if possible. I can wire and solder, so I think I have that covered, and I can pay attention to directions. I'm most likely going to have to drill the tower to run wires. What I am confused about, is how to wire the 4 existing speakers in the boat WITH tower speakers. Will the amp be enough? I am not trying to wake the neighbors just have enough sound for the wakesurfer and boat occupants. I have been searching for diagrams on line, but nothing that looks easy yet. I saw some "tower wiring" kits online, but 2 speakers at 4 ohms or 4 speakers at 2 ohms. Probably want to stick to at least 4 ohms, right? The small Bimini top pretty much is in the way of any drop down cans, so will I have to mount them on top and look stupid? So with those thoughts in mind, should I take on this job myself or just have a pro do it? What concerns me is that you can hear the "pump switch" and pumps whinning through the speakers, so apparently someone has a few wires crossed on the boat. GRRRRRR Any suggestions is appreciated and I have thick skin, so you won't offend me if all my ideas are crap! happy surfin' Mancho
  7. I have liked my decision so much, i have decided to share my experience with all of you! After hours of research, I decided to go with a pair of Exile Audio's XM7, swivel mount tower speakers. It just seemed to make sense to go with speakers that you could EASILY remove from the tower and stow inside, preventing weathering and theft. This company had solid customer service as well. Somehow, our wakeboard rope managed to wrap around the speaker mount before pulling someone up. Once we propelled forward, the weight of the wakeboard rider yanked the speaker mount out of its socket, completely destroying one connection. I sent an email to exile audio and within one hour i got a response that they would replace the mount at no cost. One week later, the mount arrived. They even payed for shipping! Thanks Exile! http://exileaudio.co...er-speaker.html *Video above are incredibly similar to the ones from Exile. Just wanted to show the ease and the concept of swivel speakers
