My last two fill ups were 5.18 and 5.33 GPH on our fi23 with 409 and 3145 prop. The 5.18 was mostly surfing, 11 hours on the clock and 57 gallons. The second had 2-3 hours of cruising 4-5k rpm the rest surfing and slow speed zup (for my 4 year old) 9 hours on the clock and 48 gallons of fuel. Hours aren't exact but they are close. Im at 5k ft elevation ballast is 75-100% full when surfing + 500 lbs of steel

I've been developing a tab based surf system similar to what's now on Centurion and Supreme. One of our first prototypes went on a Malibu VTX. Using the Tabs instead of the surf gates lowered the RPM's by about 1000. The wave was excellent with a lot of push. Tabs are far more efficient than gates and give you a bit more wake shaping ability.

So, I thought I'd share an important lesson I learned yesterday when taking the boat out for the first time after replacing the helm and steering cable on my 86 TruTrac. You can actually find my write-up I did on the replacement in The Official TruTrac-I-II-III and Falcon Thread or in This thread, which included pictures. Anyway, I decided to take the boat out for a quick run yesterday after I finally got the boat back together completely. During the installation process, I made sure to align my steering wheel and rudder for a "straight ahead" position. What I failed to check was the fact that when I turned the steering wheel right, the rudder would indeed turn to the right. Now I'm sure that it is stated somewhere in the manual for the helm that the direction that you feed the cable into the helm will dictate what direction the rudder will turn. Apparently I fed the cable in through the wrong side of the helm and, in essence, reversed the steering without my knowing. Right was left, left was right. Fast forward to me trying to get the boat off the trailer... I immediately knew that something wasn't right but I couldn't tell what it was. I get the boat off the trailer and proceed to try to pull the boat forward and toward the dock at the boat launch while the girlfriend parks the truck and trailer. I turn the wheel left, boat goes right. Took me about 15 seconds of pure confusion to finally realize what the problem was and about another 45 seconds of the most difficult boat maneuvering I had ever experienced. I got the boat next to the dock, backed the trailer back into the water, winched it up, then got it back home and thought about what just happened. I figured out how to fix the problem pretty quickly but I'm glad that nothing bad happened to the boat. Yes, this may be common knowledge to some, and it was definitely a mistake on my part not checking this before going on the water but it never occurred to me that this could happen! Thought I'd share this in hopes that it helps someone down the road, or makes some of you chuckle a bit.

Also check the connections under the dashboard. They’re flimsy at best

I went ahead and made the swap to Valterra's on our 2011 240+ enzo. Finally this feature of the boat works as designed. Wish I would have done this long ago. I used the E40A-8 mentioned by a crew member in this thread and they worked. I also took the advice from this thread regarding the wiring. One benefit of the Valtera's is that depending on how you mount them you can easily see if they are open or closed (whereas the drainmasters were always a mystery). I tipped mine inboard towards the engine compartment and they cleared the divider panel and when the locker cover is open you can see if the handle is open or closed. So far they are working fantastic.

Shortly after this picture was taken, the steering cable snapped and brought the day to a swift end. Regardless, it was a great day on the water while it lasted.

Spent last week....Weds to Sun at Lake Norris, TN with a bunch of guys/boats. What a blast! Have not felt that relaxed and stress free for a LONG time. Lots of surfing and playing, fireworks at night (big show on Sat night thanks to Joe and family). Just a great time with great people. Darkside (Joe) towed his RI257 down from AZ and I spent a lot of time with him, his wife and son. Weather was PERFECT the entire time, so easy to find excellent water on that lake on the side we were staying (near Hickory Star Marina). Even tho Sat during day was really busy, due to all the coves, still easy to find good water if you wanted. Thurs afternoon we drove up to the new Centurion dealer and got to demo a new FI21, stock wave was excellent and we were all very impressed with how nice the wave was, tons of push and height. These 2 pics are behind my boat on Saturday evening. 1 of me and 1 of Joe's son Josh. We used glow sticks, spotter on front and observer at rear, clear skies and perfect conditions.
