Bethy Creek ERC (Endless Ride Cable) 2 tower cable system The cable lake is 500 feet long with a tower at each end that pulls the rider back and forth, there is a 5 foot wedge and a 30 foot funbox in the lake that riders can hit. THE WATER The entire area is know as Lake Livingston. The locals refer to the area that the resort is on as Bethy Creek and the area outside of it as the Trinity River. Bethy Creek offers a small lake environment, across the Bethy Creek Resort is a canal (see image above) that gives crew members access to the Trinity River, entering the river Lake Livingston is to the right and to the left, miles and miles of smooth as glass water through the east Texas pines and farm lands. As you can see from the image above you could go through a full tank of fuel riding to the second bridge and back, where the red line on the image ends. The next step after sending the drawing of the board we created to Mike Walker was for him to create the CAD file the board blank was to be cut to. The benefit of using CAD software and having the blank cut on a CNC machine is the board shape can be digitally stored in a database of the shapper and referred to in the future. Another advantage is having the ability to make fine-tuned adjustments, down to .001 of an inch, letting the client's board design evolve with their surfing over time instead of having to adjust to a completely new shape off the showroom floor. Their next board can be designed specifically for them with changes made to enhance their style of riding. Creating the design in CAD also gives the shapper the ability to watch over the overall volume and displacement that each design offers as this is one of the biggest factors that determines what length and model a rider should use based on their skill set. The overall design was based on speed and maneuverability and will incorporate a proven concave and rocker combination that Mike has been using on the Walker Project boards for the last five years, that are known to be a favorite of his riders. Another plus of CAD based design is this shape can be offered in several sizes that will net any rider size. Check out the CAD images below, notice the nose and tail concave are not part of the design during the CAD stage. These design elements will be added during the hand shaping process after the blank is cut. Stay tuned for more updates as the shaping process moves forward.

Start making plans for the 19th of August 2016 This year we are moving the CCC Weekend up to Friday the 19th of August CenturionCrew members, family and friends will begin to descend on Bethy Creek Resort near the town of Riverside, Texas an hour north of Houston. For a weekend of fun on the water, full of Centurion boats and water related activities. Dates for the event were moved up this year per discussions with many of the attendees from last year. Please post on the thread if this causes issues for anyone and we can discuss. Of course the fun of an event like this is that everyone shares their boats, boards and has a blast riding and hanging out with old and new friends. The core group will arrive Friday morning to start setting up for the CCC Weekend. Everyone is welcome to check in when ever they would like and stay as long as they like. Friday - Will be the main arrival day, crew members will check in and get some riding in. That evening CCC will provide an eat and greet meal of sausage wrapped in tortillas along with chips and something sweet. Once everyone has had their fill previous year videos will be shown at the pavilion along with a group fire, giving everyone a chance to meet and put name and faces together. Saturday - Ride Ride Ride and Ride some more, a day full of boat hopping, board swapping, in general spending time and riding with crew members you usually don't get a chance to ride with. Learn some new tricks, try the wake on a different model boat, just get out there and have some fun in the Texas sun. There is a sand bar in front of the resort, the plan is to meet at the sand bar to raft up around 4pm and switch up boards, boats and riders, then head back out for a final session. Crew coming in from out of town can rest assure that they will have a boat to jump in and a board to ride behind, so there is no need to bring any boards if you are flying in for the event. After a full day of riding, dinner will be served by CCC which will consist of something really good that has yet to be decided, including something sweet. After the meal, everyone will gather in the pavilion for music, fun and door prizes. Also, if we can work all the details out, crew members will be able to take hits on the ERC (Endless Ride Cable) 2 tower cable system, boards will be provided or you can use your own. See post below for further information on the cable system which can also be ridden the entire weekend. Sunday - Morning rides depending on your travel plans, there will surely be crew members planning to ride most of the day. So anyone remaining on Sunday will still be able to see some action on the water. For those that are considering flying in from out of town, the Bethy Creek Resort is only 75 miles from IAH (George Bush Intercontinental Airport). There is a chance of talking a local crew member into a ride from the airport or grab the cheapest rental car you can find for the weekend. See post below for directions to the CCC Weekend. Finally………a solution! What wrong with old fashion boat carpet? Carpet is fine in the cabin but is not the best outside in the weather. It mildews, wears out quickly, retains water so is always soggy in inclement weather, stains and smells! All of which DECKadence does not do. Since DECKadence will last as long as you own your boat, although it is a premium product and more costly than carpet, you will never need to replace it or spend money on cleaning it so ultimately is it much less costly than carpet! At 1/2"/14mm thick it is double the thickness of carpet so it is extremely comfortable. How is it installed? Installation is not TECHNICALLY the right word. Since it is more than three times heavier per sq ft than traditional carpet it lays flat. The patented backing prevents movement on your gel coat and since it is flow-through (vs solid backed), it cannot catch wind under it and blow away. We also do not require snaps other than on stairs and swim platforms for safety reasons. The DECKadence mat is sized/cut differently than snap in carpet which requires all pieces to be snapped in place so the carpet won’t move or blow away. Also with snap in carpet there is usually a gap between the edge of the carpet and the walls generally provided which traps and holds dirt in most cases. On carpet the gaps are for air to circulate and water to drain away in the hopes that the carpet will dry sooner and not mildew too much. Neither of these requirements are required with DECKadence and is the reason the existing snap-in carpet cannot be used as template. The DECKadence mat would not fit as nicely as it could fit and would not come all the way to the seat base as shown below. DECKadence does not bind the edges of mats, the material will NOT unravel so binding is not required. The outer edges are cut at an angle so that “installation” is nice and clean looking like wall to wall carpet which also further prevents movement. Hatches and ski lockers are also handled differently. Rather than having many little pieces of carpet to trap and hold dirt in the gaps. Instead DECKadence is sliced around the profile of the hatch except the side of the hinges so when it is “flopped” back down the seam becomes virtually invisible.
