ok, on first start up and idle the engine overheats and alarm goes off. IF I speed up some water pressure seems to build and cooling temps come down. The boat is 04 centurion elite bow rider. I assume impellor never been changed so I want to do it. here are a few questions i have: 1.) HOw can i tell if i have Bravo or Alpha eninge? 2.) what is impellor part number? 3.) should i but the kit and plan to rebuilt water pump? someone told me i would have the Brass housing and it would be trashed... I have not taken it off yet I would like to have part ready to replace it at min. the impellor. OF course I need the boat badly this sat. jeff H

thanks for the help. Mine is the brass housing. ordered the impeller I "think" i need from amazon.. It gets here wed. But TUe i went ahead and took the water pump off and apart... impeller was damaged.. some fins missing. I decided to follow some online advice and try to track down the broken off parts. There were no videos or pics of where to look so I just followed the hoses. When I took hose off on back of engine (i think maybe a power steering or trans mission temp cooler?) There was a LOT of broken off pieces of impellers. More pieces than were missing on the one I just taken out. I was shocked how much "junk" was in that spot. I got it all out with my fingers and a water hose then put back together. I purchased a new impeller at the local boat dealer (for twice what the amazon one cost) just so I could put it back in today. I will keep other one for next time or a spare. Since one Stainless bolt had messed up threads, I can't put it all back together, but will finish the job tomorrow. I also plan to shoot a small video just to help others. Show where pump was, how I took off, and where I found all the parts. It easily could have blocked enough water to cause my alarm to go off when it did. I hope that is where all the pieces were. I looked in few other hoses but found nothing...

recently purchased a low time 04 elite bowrider. tach did not work so trying to troubleshoot now. Have it out. Have not tested it yet, but if it is the tach, any idea on replacing or fixing? It is a 3 guage instrument: tach, water temp, oil press, light. black face w/ centurion logo.
