  1. New Prop for Arizona

Get an Acme 537 prop for your boat. It is in between a cruising prop like your 381 and a wakebaording prop like the 1579. You will lose a few mph at the top end from your 381 but it will be much better at elevation. I have one on my SV230 and it works well for me. You could probably get Acme to repitch your prop into the 537 then just leave it on your boat at both elevations.
  2. acme 537

The guys at Inland Surfer ran the 537 prop on their previous SV240 but they did not have the blade. I have not been in a Centurion with a blade but I have been in a Malibu with the wedge and it seems to really load the engine. You might want more of a wakeboard/high altitude prop for this reason. The 1579 or 1619 seem to be the best choices.
  3. My SV230 came with a 817 prop (13.5x17.5) and it was not what I wanted. I then put on a 1579 and it was ok but I think it is too much prop. We are at sea level and do not use ballast when we wakeboard so we do not need the extra prop to get on plane, though if I used a switchblade then this or the 1619 would be what I would use. I now have a 537 on my boat and it is the best prop I have tried. Good for cruising, tubing the kids and wakesurfing. With 1800# (ballast and people) in the boat for wakesurfing the engine is running around 2750rpm at 11mph. When we add another 750# sac for a massive wave we ride at 11.7mph and the engine is at 3200rpm. With the added ballast it seems to cavitate a bit more coming out of the hole but I doubt it is straining the engine. Once at surfing speed the engine runs without any stain. Whatever you do I definately would not go to a smaller diameter than 13.5".
  4. Canada Day Long Weekend!

We will be riding at Sproat Lake. Hope the sun shines.
  5. help withe wake...

From what I have read you will need more ballast to get a good wakesurf wave behind your boat. Those tanks are only about 250# each. Fill your stock ballast and then throw a 750# sac in the surf side locker (or have a bunch of people sit in that corner).
  6. ANOTHER ballast Q

I do not have the sideswipe exhaust in my sv230 so I do not know how strong the cover is but you need at least the 750# sac in the locker and a bunch more weight (people) on the surf side seat.
  7. Sporty, Mercruiser recommends that I use their 25W40 Synthetic Blend oil in my Black Scorpion engine. Would the Mobil 1 0W40 or the Esso 0W40 XD3 be ok to use instead? How often are you going to change your oil with full synthetic? Mercruiser recommends 100 hour service with it's oil.
  8. Battery Charging?

We have our heater, shower, stereo, etc running at the same time here in the shoulder season so I put a charger similar to that on my batteries maybe once a month. I doubt that my alternator can charge both batteries completely when running so I do it just to be safe.
  9. My wave videos

Hey Duffy, I have a bunch of spray behind my sv230 as well and I like your "mudflap" idea. Post up some picks when you get it done. Thanks, John
  10. finally a vid...

Wow, that is cold for Osoyoos. We were out in Victoria on Saturday and the water was 60' but at least the air was 70'.
  11. I am trying to figure out the tongue weight of my boat on the trailer. I have an SV230 and I curious if anyone has actually weighed their boat and trailer. I have a hard time believing the boat is 4400#'s as stated on the centurion web site. The 2005/6 models were only 3500# and the 247 Malibu specs say 4000#. What makes the newer enzo's so heavy?
  12. Weight of boat

It only has a 1400# payload. 1400-968 (tongue weight)= 432#'s. My wife and I are about 300# together then there are my two kids, gear, etc.. Not going to happen.
  13. Weight of boat

I took my boat (SV230) to a commercial weigh station today to determine the tongue weight so I can decide on what vehicles I can consider in my hunt for something new. I was a little surprised at the overall weight. The tongue weight was way heavier than I anticipated as well. Total weight with trailer, 3/4 tank of gas, racks, stereo, dual batteries, spare prop, etc.. = 6622# Tongue weight = 968# (14.6%) I have been test driving tow vehicles like the Chevy Avalanche, Tahoe, VW Touareg, etc. These vehicles have the towing capacity but do not have the payload capabilities unless there is only two people in them and not much gear. Most of them have a maximum payload of around 1300#.
  14. SV230 with an enzo sac, 500# on the port side seat 160# driver and a 130# passenger. We seem to have a lot of wash coming up the middle of the wave. These pictures are with the Bennet tab at 25% to tone the wash down a little. Is this normal for the enzo? Is there anything we should do to clean it up?
  15. Next time we are out I will try standing on the platform and see if it makes a difference. My two other options are to add a little weight in the starboard tank or the bow sac, or both.
  16. Nice! Did you drill holes in the hose or just wrap them around the screws? Do you want to send a piece of that metal plate over to me in Victoria?
  17. My opinion might be too late but I highly recommend that you get the 537. I have tried three props on my SV230 and like the Acme 537 the best. The 817 was a great cruiser prop but that was it. My second prop is a 13.5"x14.25 with 0.185 pitch. It is very similar to the 1579 which is a great prop for wakeboarding with a ton of ballast. You need that extra rpm to get on plane. The 537 is the perfect combination of both. We do not add ballast when we wakeboard so we do not need the extra prop to get on plane. We do a ton of wakesurfing with about 2000# of ballast and a few people. The 537 runs about 3000rpm at 11.5 mph surfing which is right in the engines torque band. We can also unload the ballast and pull the kids tubing without having to run at 4000 rpm like you will have to with the 1579. With the 13.5x14.25 prop we usually cruise at 25 mph as the extra rpm's use more gas. With the 537 we run around 30 mph and use the same amount of fuel.
  18. I think we need to use a hose of some type to direct the water splashing in the vent down to the bilge. If we just let it drip down from the top it will splash over the engine and alternator belt. I blew the belt in my last boat with water splashing all over it.
  19. I picked up this 3" plastic grate from Rona. I am thinking I could cut a hole in the backing plastic plate and glue this to it. Then I would seal the backing plate to the transom and run a 3" vent line down onto the bilge. What do you think?
  20. I have some spare hose and I am looking at the feasibility of the idea now. I am not sure the backing plate can be tightened up enough to seal the water out.
  21. I have closed off the port side vents holes to keep the water out. We are getting a small amount of water in the transom vent (at the step) when the rider goes down and we pull the throttle so I was thinking of directing that vent into the bilge somehow.
  22. Sporty, what did you use to duct the existing transom vents to the bilge area? Can you post up a picture or two please.
  23. Exact length of boat

On my original boat title it states that my 2007 SV230 is 22'-8" long and 8'-6" wide.
  24. DEPTH FINDER

Where is the sensor for the air tempurature? The tempurature my gauge shows on my SV230 always seems a little high.
  25. So I finally got the engine in my SV230 broken in (20 hours worth) and we are ready to do some serious surfing. I am curious as to what speed you are wakesurfing your enzo's at with different weight configurations. We have the enzo sac installed on the port side locker and have done a couple of trial runs to dial in the wake. It seems like 11mph and the trim tab at 25% is a good speed for that amount of weight (only a driver and another 90# person in the boat). The boat has a ballast tank under the starboard side seat (250#) that I have not filled yet. The boat also has a 650# bow sac. I have a 750# fat sac and a 565# fat sac that I can weight the boat with for days when the water is calm and we want a massive wake. What would be the best distribution of this weight and do I increase the speed as I add weight. I am also contemplating getting a 155# brick fat sac to put on the swim deck like Duffy does on his avalanche. We do not get on the water all that often in the spring so I am hoping to absorb a bunch of information here on the web instead of wasting time on the water testing. Any input is appreciated.
