  1. Bags Self Draining

Definitely thought of sticking a cork in there.
  2. Ours was the same from factory last summer. I split ours. Transom lights on accessory switch, and interior on the interior switch. Super easy with a jumper wire. I did it while floating out on the lake one day. Just took a length of wire a few crimp ends and wire strippers.
  3. S238 buying advice

We have a 2016, and love it. We run 850's with 100lbs lead in each locker and 100 lbs of lead under each side seats at the furthest rear point. We will be adding some more lead once the dealer gets some in stock. The extra weight really benefits when the water conditions aren't perfect with a light crew. Goofy wave is OK. Regular wave is always great. For goofy, we drain off some of the Port PNP bag to create a little more list.
  4. Hello new guy here

Yeah, we are just over 7k when I scaled last year. If I recall, about 640lbs give or take on the tongue.
  5. Hello new guy here

A Duramax diesel tows the S238 way better. We had a 2013 1500 5.3 last season to tow the 238. This year upgraded to a 2016 Duramax and everything about it is better. You don't feel any sway on the road, you don't feel like you need to be 110% driving. Fuel mileage and power are an added bonus. The 1500 would suffice if you needed to, but could exceed payload, and was just more tiring towing. My 1500 averaged 15.2 litres / 100km, over its lifespan. So far the Diesel is 16 litres / 100km. Tons of hills around us. Diesel is about 18 towing. 1500 was 24 towing. Diesel is 10 to 15 cents less per litre for us right now. A comparable 6l gas HD truck burns about 21 litres per 100km average.
  6. Yesterday my wife went to blow up a floatie from the rear 12V plug in at the rear locker and quit after a few seconds use. I figured a fuse blew. So we tried the Dash 12v, no problem. Thought it was strange the rear 12v blew, but then noticed later on the dash the Bilge pump resettable fuse was popped. I reset it, and then looked and it is only a 3 Amp resettable fuse. Why would the bilge pump and the rear 12v be on such a low fuse? The bilge pump is rated at 3 amps, and suggests a 5 amp fuse. If the 12 volt is connected to it though, I think it should be on a 10 amp minimum, and on its own. Anyone else notice this?
  7. Lets see your ride doing work!

Nice truck Dark. My buddy bought the same one recently for towing his 28 foot Chappral.
  8. Yes, add weight to fix the wash. We either move a body if we can to the other side, or adjust with water in the hard tanks.
  9. We go topless to the local lakes. Cover on for long hauls to keep the road grime out of the boat. No issues so far, but I think we will adopt the painters tape on the windshield and rub rail.
  10. I think the Canadian company is called Driftwake?
  11. We have a 2016, with 850's in the rear, along with 80 lbs of lead in the rear most corners. Another 50lbs of lead under each side seat against the partition. We fill the rear hard tanks, and probably 50 to 60% in the center tank. Typically only 3 or 4 of us out. Myself, wife and 2 teen boys. Our weights vary from 180 to 100lbs. This year we have been playing with speeds from 11.4 to 11.8 depending on the board and rider. Last season we were more 10.4 to 11, with factory rear bags. We are going to play with the lower speeds next session out again. Regular side is always phenomenal, goofy side we usually just drain the port hard tank a little to clean it up.
  12. SumoMax 850's fit the rear locker perfectly. No issues so far with popping panels, pushing channel, or losing transom cup holders.
  13. Boat went in!

I just received some Sumo Max 850's to swap out the factory Fly High rear locker bags. Won't be able to get them in place for another 3 weeks as the boat is still in storage. I'll post up what difference they make, and how they fill, once we get out on the water again.
  14. Weighed our 2016 S238 last summer. Loaded with normal boat gear, small bag cooler, 3 wakeboards,2 surf boards, 200 lbs lead and full tank of fuel - 7300 lbs Total boat and Boatmate trailer 570 lbs of that ended up on the tongue. Our Silverado 1500 could handle the weight with a 9500lb tow rating, but ran out of payload capacity. Long steep hills were not friendly if you got out of the power zone.. Going to put the Duramax 3500 in front of it in a few more weeks.
  15. New kid in town

Congratulations! We've been following. Great things lie ahead!
  16. Our 238 came with six WS 65I in boat speakers and 4 Icon 8's on a WS HT 6 amp and the standalone WS 10" sub/amp. With Wetsounds selling down their Syn-2 and Syn-4 amps at discount, which is the preferred choice to switch the Icon 8's to? Then all 6-inboats can run solely off the HT 6.
  17. Yes, Duramax. Opted for the Diesel over the 6.0 gas. The Dealer gave us a very attractive price on the Duramax upgrade.
  18. We solved any payload / towing problems. Now to wait 6 months to get the boat behind it. So far the same commuting mpg as the 1500.
  19. Many of today's SUV's and half tons are capable of towing and stopping the boats, but how are you staying within the vehicle Payload? Rear axle limit? You can end up over your GVW so easy, yet still be under the GCVWR. There are some SUVS and pickups with payload limits in the 1000 to 1100lb range, yet are capable of 6000lb tow ratings. Power and brake wise the vehicle seems to handle fine, but the vehicle exceeds its design.
  20. We are upgrading our tow vehicle too. Not because it can't tow it, but because we run out of payload. S238 claimed dry weight 4700 lbs, trailer 1400 lbs estimated with spare tire. Add quicksurf, optional tower and sub sound system, heater, battery charger, fuel, fluids and your own gear it put our weight around 7100 lbs, and we bring 200lbs lead - 7300lbs total, with about 550 lbs on the tongue Supposedly need Weight Distribution over 5000 lbs / 500 tongue on most pickups. Gm 1500 usually gives you 7000 / 800 without WD. With those type of weights, a smaller tow vehicle lightens up the steer wheels.
  21. GM HD tow vehicle

H20 that is pretty nice. Not a huge Dodge fan but even with CDN exchange that seems reasonable. NICK213 The 1500 is a 2013. My long term average is 14.7L / per 100km Mostly Urban/City style driving. Towing on the Hope Princeton it averages 24L / 100 km. You have a 2015 2500 6.0? What style of driving do you do, and how is the mileage? Only reason looking at the 3500, is it saves on Luxury tax, and cheaper to insure. A 2500, would more than suffice my towing / payload needs. Thought of a 1500 Max Tow, or Ecoboost 150 with max towing. They up payload to 1950 lbs. 500 more than I have now. Non WDH weight you are still at 7000lbs / 800lb tongue on the 1500, or 5000 / 500lbs with the F150 without WDH. A buddy was just forced to switch his company Truck from a 2007 3500 Cummins to a 2016 1500 Ecoboost max tow. He needs it to tow his 9200 lb Chappral 28'. He has electric over Hydraulic so I guess WDH will be in his future to try and balance it out. We fall under for Tongue load, and just a hair over for Total weight. No payload left in the cab or box with 4 of us and full tank of fuel. Locally it does fine, and that is where 95% of our boating is. 15 to 20km drive to Pitt or Alouette majority of the time, then 75km to Cultus. one or two annual 380km trips each way to Osoyoos.
