  1. To winterize heater - Remove one of the flow lines off the engine and blow it down. I usually do this with engine plugs out, that way I can hear when I have pushed all the water through. Then I fill that line with antifreeze and blow it down again until the antifreeze is draning out the block. Then you should be good. For winterizing and running the boat out of the water a 1 inch ball valve teed into the vdrive intake with a garden hose fitting is the boss sauce. Makes oil changes and antifreeze fills a snap.
  2. GM HD tow vehicle

1 Ton Diesel - Why you ask, because they are the best tow vehicle hands down, have the most capacity and hold there value well. Emissions controls suck, but that can be fixed as mentioned so short trips are not to be worried about. I bought mine used (F-350) but thouroughly vetted it before purchase and have been very happy.... Wifey has an X5 diesel too. Diesel Power!
  3. So I have an ongoing issue with my 2008 Enzo SV 230 dumping a nasty amount of spray right into the front part of my wave when surfing. I don't have any video, but the best I can explain it from viewing while riding beside the boat is that a huge trail of water seems to be coming off the starboard hull about 3"- 5" in front of the wing on my asymmetrical plate, and instead of being washed out back behind the wave with the rest of the water like on the port side, it dumps into my surf lane. Here are are my specs: Sideswipe with 50# lead sacs in each locker behind sideswipe Exhaust GPS Speed Control 11.5MPH Enzo Sac Port and Starboard 400# fatsac for the seat Another 250# of Lead Wake to throw around the main cabin floor. Dual Ram Under mount A-plate with 18-20 degrees of wing - Custom built to size from a Fineline OEM template (13.5" x 19.5" ) - Also tab down seems to exacerbate the issue oddly enough. So, I can surf this wave all day long, but the spray is making it hard to progress with tricks and is generally annoying for obvious reasons. So I am looking for some solutions /advice to trouble shoot this problem, anything from simple and inexpensive or if necessary complicated and expensive. Thanks Crew. As an interesting side note, I found that the sideswipe exhaust can cause a little extra turbulence on the face of the wave when dumped surf side.
  4. I like your idea of a winter upgrade, the only thing I don't like is the price tag - but maybe when you are ready to sell yours we could chat.
  5. Update. Well I went out for a run on the weekend. I moved all weight out of the Port locker and put 100# of lead ballast along the starboard locker wall and 50# right behind sideswipe exhaust. I then filled my Enzo Sac, put another 400# fatsac on the seat and 200# of lead on the floor. With the trim tab all the way down the wake cleaned up nicely, this come at the expense of push somewhat but at least I know the potential for a cleaner wake is there, which is great. I think a little more lead in the locker will help with the loss of push, I will have to test this some more. Also, I sometimes had a tendency to dump my sideswipe exhaust surfside to knock down some noise, but have now realized that this practice actually creates turbulence and spray on the wave - so high side is the place to vent, which I guess is what the system was originally designed for.
  6. Also, I believe its easiest to drain the oil from the bottom of the pan, my understanding is that the gears get in the way of being able to use an extractor.
  7. Here is a link to the Walter V-Drive manual: http://www.dublerfamily.com/Regina_oceani/Manuals/Drive%20Train%20and%20Fuel%20System/V-Drive/Walter%20V-Drive%20Installation%20and%20Service%20Manual.PDF Oil change maintenance is every season as per the manual - Good read as there are some other little items to maintain as well.
  8. Good thinking Doc - I will test out and report back, hopefully with a video.
  9. Here is another shot of the plate:
  10. Yeah it hits me in the eyes and dumps whitewash right in my surf lane. I had the plate bent up a few degrees more earlier in the season, maybe I need more negative angle in the up position as you mentioned. I am just not sure how to gain that negative angle without putting to much pressure on the hydraulic rams. Also, as mentioned the water trail seems to dump off the hull not the plate - see picture below.
  11. Quicksurf

I sent you PM - I have to do something about my goofy side - the spray into the pocket is brutal, but the rest of the wave is good. Get in touch when you have time.
  12. Anchor recommendation

Yeah I saw that Video too. Box anchor works real well, dont sweat it.
  13. Anchor recommendation

I have a small box anchor for my sv230 and it works great. I also have a anchor bungee and have ordered up a large sand spike from slide anchor as well. Great set up to keep the boat where you want it in most conditions. As a side note I also run a regular anchor line in conjunction with the anchor bungee just incase the elastic line fails.
  14. So I am trying to get my wave dialed in and its proving challenging. Boat = 2008 SV 230 with 537 Prop and 6.2 Black Scorpion Current set up of Enzo Sacs and A-plate (under mount built to fineline spec and 18-20 degree on the wing) seem to generate not the best results and quite a bit of spray with just the wife and kids on board. This is running at 11.0 - 11.5mph. Starboard spray is terrible with just Enzo sac filled and one 200# passenger in rear corner. This weekend I had a 400# bag on the rear seat and two people on the sundeck and the wave on both sides seemed quite good with minimal wash. I am curious to know what people typical run or have ran and what factors you feel effect the wave on this boat the most. My gut feeling is that I need more weight right in the back to really bury the rub rail - but the sideswipe exhaust and hydraulic trim tab fluid container are in the way. So maybe a 250# friend to ride right on the back sundeck / swim platform? Maybe a 750# pound back for the seats or some pop sacks for the lockers? Questions; 1.Those with A-plates what trim do you run side to side? 2.For those with bags inside the boat are they best on the seat bow to stern, port to starboard, or on the floor? - my #400 always wants to fall off 3. Will re propping to a 1579 give me any benefit other than better holeshot. 4. Does Counter weight help clean up wake? Thanks Crew! P.S will try to get some video or picture next time out.
  15. Nice I scoped it. Looks good. Let's see some pics of the hardware. I am running A-Plate, Enzo Sac both sides, 400# on the seat when light on crew and 100# of lead in Starboard locker and 50# on the Port Locker, Then 200# of lead to throw around where I please. Wave is getting pretty good on both sides. Just fighting spray issues depending on the day. I almost think its more related to choppy water conditions, or maybe needing some counterweight. Anyway, wifey and I are ripping it wireless now with relative ease, but if I cannot get the spray issues sorted I may consider the tab route.
  16. I think is was something about cleaning the brushes on the electric motor. Can't quite remember.
  17. Had what I think was a similar issue on mine before I bought it. Previous owner and boat inspection shop that did my pre purchase thought the pump was seized. I took it to a electric pump shop and they got it fixed right up. Cost me $125 but its working real good. Maybe try that?
  18. I think it pretty much has to come off the tower every time, which is not to bad really especially if you have two people.
  19. This is how I do it (Evolution Tower) 1. Unclip short front support from tower bracket (Remove the insets and store in glove box - Optional). 2. Fold Bimini towards the stern. 3. Pull rear support bars. (Store in Glove Box) 4. Unclip long support from tower bracket. 5. Remove Bimini and lay Bimini flat on sundeck 6. Open velcro side flap and bundle Bimini as compact a possible 7. Lay travel cover underneath and overtop, tuck it in and then zip that puppy up. 8. Remount Bimini on to forward tower bar and secure with straps or just lay it on the seats for transport. Hope This Helps.
  20. Who is running lead on there Enzo's and how much? I was thinking adding some to the back lockers and maybe 50# to help offset the two port side batteries. Pricey though compared to water ballast.
  21. I have found that my Enzo Sac plus 400# on the Seat and some weight on the swim deck or sundeck pad get both sides of my boat pretty rocking and keeps the wave fairly clean. Just trying to find a somewhat repeatable wave and it seems like there are so many variables from day to day to consider.... I have yet to really get a big crew on board and just do some testing - so that obviously is required. Also, we have been on some busy lakes lately and boat chop has been fairly dramatic - so hoping for a few nice flat days to see what kinda wave we can get. I like my Enzo Sacs - but I cant really get them all the way to the to the back of the locker because of the aerators and sideswipe exhaust- so I may try to lengthen the drain lines and move the aerators to the rear transom wall so I can get my bag back in the corner. I have a bow sac but have not really used it that much - so could maybe try that out a bit. Does re propping add any push to the wake or does it only improve hole shot?
  22. Nice - I just hacked up my oem plate to make the hinge and ram mounting bracket. I only have about 13 degrees on my wing currently - so obviously I will need to get that bent up some more and see where things are at after that.
  23. Did you have time to look at this? I am getting a good amount of spray too with the under mount a-plate and dual ram (Bennett trim tab) setup. I too have a gap and wonder if closing it up will improve performance, also my wing is a just barley even with the plane of the v hull so it needs to be bent up some more to my understanding. 18 degrees ish? Curious if others have found success with the under mount option or if i need to piano hinge to the transom.
  24. I don't see why this would not work, you could always check with GBB or maybe go with a 5" baffle so you can get the baffles in downstream of the Corsa. As a side note I am very happy with the upgrade - noise from the sideswipe is barley a thought in my mind after about 10 hrs on the boat this season, plus when you dump the exhaust out one side its even further dampened.
  25. I fired the beast up quickly at the house the other day and it is quite subdued at idle - will hopefully lake test this weekend. I think dollars to donuts, this mod is easily the best solution going for sideswipe. When I talked to the GBB crew they said expect a 5-7 db reduction in noise, with no loss of power. I assume that depending on your boat and engine size results will vary. Mine is a 6.2 Black Scorpion. Install wise there was only one spot for the baffle in my rig - downstream of the Corsa Exhaust Valve in the large exhaust hose 2.5-3" in.
