  1. Does that say Duramax on the hood?
  2. 2017 Stinger Plate

Gotcha. Are we thinking then that a Crusader 6.0 will see 30% less fuel efficiency in operation due to the lack of direct injection?
  3. Sweet boat - but no tower! I have an F350 and a Diesel Suv. So my attitude is kinda like, I need more boat to tow. I was just just curious how a diesel half ton would do through our Rocky Mountains. Would be nice to have a HD half ton that tows heavy, but rides nice and gets good mileage around town.
  4. 2017 Stinger Plate

Well come on man - I am trying to talk myself into a 2017 - Show me some goofy footage!!!!!...........Also, what is the Gas consumption like running with full ballast and quick surf? I am guessing it would use more than a listed only set up?
  5. Anybody towing a 23ft+ wake boat through the mountains with a Dodge Eco Diesel? I would be curious on your impressions.
  6. I have an X5 Diesel and it is a torque monster. It has a rated tow capacity of 7700# with a special European aftermarket hitch. Although I have only towed my #3500 tent trailer it does it with ease. The problem I see with towing a bigger boat is that X5 sits kinda low, has small little mirrors, and does not have a HD transmission ans cooling (as far as I know). I have always figured that towing is most comfortable at about 75% of vehicle capacity - maybe with a diesel you can tow closer to max, but I think the gas units less so. Anyway, My buddy tows his 21 ft Tige through the mountains with his GLK 450 diesel and he says it does awesome and gets good mileage. The European Diesels are sweet units.

Cool video - Why is everybody surfing on the wrong side?
  8. 2017 S238 Engine Options

Yes its a $10,200 USD option (Retail). According to the option sheet I have.
  9. I think a tow boat are a relativity easy pull as they are fairly aerodynamic, have dual axles and have good brakes. But they are starting to get much bigger and sit much higher on their trailers. Modern 1/2 Ton trucks produce the same amount of power as the diesel from 10 - 15 years ago and a Eco Boost engine is similar to a small diesel power plant. So I guess the difference goes to Payload, Transmission, Suspension and Brakes. Obviously a HD vehicle will have all those in spades. During the summer I trailer around 6000KM back and forth to the lakes with a lot of those runs through mountains, windy single lane roads etc. So for me it a 1 ton Diesel, overkill, maybe a bit - but love that 400hp and 800 ft/lb of torque at half the RPM range of a Gasser. The towing is amazing. Plus with the costs of these new 1/2 tons, why not step into a used Diesel for similar or less money? I have had them both and diesel = real truck. Plus I think these bigger trucks just look better hooked up to these big boats. The other benefit of these big trucks is that as these boats get bigger and heavier and we get lucky enough to maybe afford them - you will need the extra grunt - especially if you have mountains to contend with.
  10. I am curious what everyone figures is fair pricing on new boats, or more specifically what do you aim for when negotiating? Invoice plus 5% less factory discounts and incentives, no silly prep fees and then of course tax? I was thinking wholesale pricing is maybe 30% of configured MSRP - but maybe I am out to lunch. Also, any opinions on when the best time to buy is? I am thinking either now or near the boat show, but is boat show pricing that good or just hype? Salute.

Not sure about the 238, but considering upgrading the stereo in the SV230 if I keep it. Scoping some nice Boss Marine Audio on Amazon, either that or possibly Pyle Brand - depends on budget. I think the current tow vehicle a F-350 Diesel, may have to be downgraded to something with a shorter wheel base and probably a v6. I much prefer the boat towering over the vehicle in the rear view when towing plus I have a set of killer detachable mirrors that are not getting much use......Also the guy that blew the tranny on his MDX pulling his Enzo told me that he is pretty sure there where a bad batch that year and prior to that incident he said she pulled strong through the hills. But then again maybe I am ?
  12. 2017 Stinger Plate

I don't know if I could handle this double dare as it might be a fineline to tow.
  13. Wheeling and Dealing

Well after a little research that may not work, but one can always dream. I have no problem paying I just like transparency.
  14. Wheeling and Dealing

So hence the necessity to getting the right deal off the bat. But with the newer boats getting so refined and pricey its definitely keeping the value solid on used market.
  15. Wheeling and Dealing

This is a excellent point - Fortunately for me there are a couple rock solid dealers in my area, but I always buy used - so I am wondering how all the ballers buy new with out eating a whole bunch of depreciation when they go to swap there rigs in two years. As mentioned, I guess its about relationships and accepting the fact that you gotta pay to play if you want the latest and greatest.
  16. Only about 55 for this crew, we tried for more but the weather just wasn't cooperating. Lots of great days just chilling at the beach and keeping the kids happy. Great Season and the withdrawals are hitting hard.
  17. Curious what peoples thoughts on this boat are - I am considering swapping out my my 08 SV230 for this boat. The Subject boat It is pretty much loaded up, has the 409 motor but it would need to have some pumps added to fill and drain additional sacs in the lockers as the PNP option was not ordered. Boat is a dealer demo so would come with warranty, and based on my research the biggest issue would be whether the ram fill valves have been updated. Now, I know this is a lower profile boat then the FS33/44 and Supreme 226/238 - but would it be any different listed that the Sv230/233 series boats? Also, since it is a cab forward design imagine the lounge area and overall storage should be comparable to my SV230, but maybe giving up a little bit because of ram fill and the squashed bow. I would confirm this myself - but boat is a good drive away. Anyway - The main motivation is to get a boat with CATS that will surf great on both sides and not break the bank. The 226 is nice but lounge area looks smaller than the FX22. The 2017 238 is great, but the tower and windshield kinda kill it for me and no CATS - Price point may be doable though. The FS33/FS44 are killer - but the price point is to high for me at this time. The RI series well that is just dreaming. Thanks in Advance for the Input.
  18. 2014 FX 22

Yeah it's interesting. I look at a lot of boats and I would say that sv210 tapers less towards the rear than the larger ones, which would make sense since they are shorter. Either way, they all are really kick tush boats, and since I can't even do a 360 ( ie no pro surfer by any stretch) I should probably just run my Enzo for a couple more years and fine tune the skills. The goofy wave is good, but running it clean means tab down 100% so this means more weight. Which is livable - but I am the goofy footer so the question is how long can I live with it. But since it's getting to be the off season and it always fun to look: This would be the top choice: http://www.robertsonmotorsports.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?veh=476451&pov=4760671 So damn nice - just a bit outta reach. FX: http://www.prolinemotorsports.ca/m/showcase_unit.htm?id=829824&status=2 Can help but think this boat would be sports car with that PCM 409 and Dark I saw your YouTube of the fx and it really looked like a great wave. Thanks again for the feedback, the contemplation continues....However, I think in this price point perhaps a boat with more freeboard is the more modern choice, thus going to command a better resale dollar down the road. So maybe better to save up and pick a FS or 238 when the cash is right. Either that or try make $50k in the stock market by spring.
  19. Welcome to the Enzo Club! I think Bakes may have the fix for your tower: http://www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=1667 Hope this Helps.
  20. 2014 FX 22

Yeah well there is that option. But then maybe I would be sleeping in the boat.
  21. 2014 FX 22

Good Points fellas. I thought the sv233 and fx22 main lounges where the same size and bigger than the sv230 with difference being the bow area? I don't necessarily need more room, just thinking a CATS equipped boat in the 70-80k Canadian mark might be good middle ground for an upgrade. Talked to my centurion supreme dealer and he said I could get into a 17 loaded 238 for $95k plus would do a good trade on the sv230. But selling a 100k to the wife is going to be very tricky. That 244 at Extreme is nice and would be a lake limo. The FX is the same asking price but new with warranty. Then again I do like my SV so perhaps that 244 is a natural progression.
  22. I am in Calgary, but my boat is winterized too. Plus finding people to head out this time of year is also hard. The drysuit however has not been winterized and my leadwake is in the back of my truck just waiting to help dial in some waves.
  23. Damn, not even a Drysuit - As a fellow Albertan I salute you and your snow storm surf session.
