Joe did you take any wave pics after putting this on?

I did not take any pics and I need to.  I won't be heading to the lake for a couple weeks.  Jackie graduates this weekend with her doctorate and visiting oldest daughter in Jersey the following one..

I used it this past weekend with a full crew and I am not sure I like as much as I do with a small crew. It was hard changing settings and emptying weight with RamFil is hard to judge since it is on a timer..  The 233 is more sensitive to shifting weight and bodies than the new RI series.  My rpm's  are significantly higher with  all the people.

  2. Considering grabbing one of these. I read that the fuel consumption is a lot higher, which, is worth it but also I wouldn't mind mitigating that as much as possible. I saw this Roswell unit that just came out, I like that it has built in floatation and I thought it was interesting that it is not nearly as steep as the mission or Tsunami.

Our goofy wave just needs a little help to be pretty dialed in. I wondered if this would have the "clean up" effect but maybe cause a little less drag = fuel consumption? Thoughts?

I've not found any reviews besides one 5 star one Wakemakers. I hate to buy this cause it looks so easy to build but I've got NO TIME.

I can say that the Tsunami has three positions for potential set up. I have not used the setting with the least angle. (the furthest from 90 degrees) Yes, you use more gas and run at higher rpm's. The are many on the market and for 200-250 you can get something pretty nice. The Tsunami came with a leash. IT currently does NOT float, but I think they may be working on a floating model. This is not an issue with the leash.

  3. That's sweet! I just purchased the Tsunami and looking forward to trying it out on my S21. Let us know what your settings are. I'm hoping with the device that I can utilize all of the stock ballast and avoid bags on the seats and f$@king with pumps! Got any pictures?

I have the front bag full and have an additional 150 under the removable cushion.. I do not have plug and play in the rear so I have about 400lbs of hard weight on each side and RamFil to 70%. Trim anywhere from 20 to 40%. YRMV I used to ride at anywhere from 10.9 to 11.1 and now I am at 11.3-11.4

  4. I am a person who is always looking to make my boat's wave better. I love my 233. 6-7 peeps along with my normal ballast was GREEEAT. The goofy wave is always just alright as compared the regular side.

Anyway, I tried one those suctions systems. I have used the Mission Delta and the Tsunami by Agenda Surf. My first attempt was with a borrowed Mission, but I decided to purchase the Tsunami from Agenda. Similar results with both although it took me a couple times to smoothly install the Tsunami. The wave was AWESOME, best ever. I could ride faster and the push was fantastic, especially from far back. This with just two people in the boat. In addition, I was running the RamFil at 70% along with the hard weight I have stashed around.

  5. This past weekend I had an interesting set of events. While surfing, the engine warning lights came on as the engine was overheating. I found that the serpentine belt completely disintegrated causing everything to stop working. Anyway, I located the size of the belt and found and exact replacement at the local NAPA store, but it did not fit. I know it is the right size and the belt was tight but short. NAPA had another that was a little more than an inch longer, but that seemed to be too much. Advanced Auto had one that measured about 1/2" longer and It fit just right. I left the boat on my lift and ran things for about 30 minutes and all was good. I turned everything off and re booted and all warnings were gone. The cowling covering the serpentine belt had one bolt holding it in place. I am not sure that happened to the other bolts. This was the likely culprit that led to the belt issue. I left the cowling off for the time being.

The bolts holding the cowling in place are specialized and I am looking for replacement bolts. Anyone have an idea where to find these? Anyone had a similar belt size issue? Spec was 13/16 x 91 1/4 >>>>> I used a 13/16 x 91.8"

  6. Thanks dejoco. I've had it for two seasons now and just can't get a consistantly clean goofy wave dialed in. Regular wave is golden.

Did you have to reseal the bolt holes when re-installing the plate?

There are no holes to plug. The wing part was free from and attachment.

My good friends at Phase 5 have the same boat you have. They started using the Mission Delta wake shaper and their wave cleaned and got really good. This is what I would do and not cut the plate.

  7. I have tried 1 very similar to the SWELL listed above (which you can buy from crew store with 15% discount right now)....it worked well.

About a month n half ago.....I purchased one you dont have listed above from Nauticurl.com. Made from aircraft aluminum, similar price of about $200 and it puts out a pretty sick wave on my SV244 when maxed on ballast and evenly weighted. I would not get anything you gotta stick velcro on boat when you have no many other options that wont mess up your boat. Just my opinion. Think most of them would work fine....the suction cups stick very well to back of my SV244 and pretty sure your SV233 is similar design back there and doesnt have a big curve.

FYI....more ballast the better since have a suck gate doesnt mean you dont need ballast. You still need as much as you can run safely in your boat

I borrowed a Mission Delta just to see what it would do and it was outstanding. A longer wave with more push. I found myself going .3-.4 faster in speed. Easy to catch up from way back.

  8. It is a wonderful boat to have. I have loved mine a lot. Something to think about..... I have RamFil and CATS, but I tried weighting my boat evenly and use one of the aftermarket systems that attach to the side of the boat. It was unbelievably good. Knowing this, if I had a boat with out RamFil, I would weight the boat evenly and use this to surf. I borrowed and Mission, but have since ordered a Tsunami for Agenda Surf.

I feel your pain. I took up wake boarding at 52 and it can hurt. I surf now.

  9. I have posted about weight before, but I use weight plates from a basic weight lifting set. Readily available and can be potentially bought from Craigslist cheaply. I have use 25#, 35# and 45-50# weights. I cover in a heavy duty plastic bag and wrap with water resistant duct tape. The 25-35 weights fit nicely in the sides that have so little space. I do not have sacs in the rear just hard weight so I can use the area for storage.

I have been looking at getting lead as well, they have a discount if you buy 500lbs at a time. The price of shipping sure sucks. Just not sure I like the idea of trailering the extra weight, tho I could move to the truck for the haul if I wanna move it a few times every time I go out. I probably will at some point.

  10. I installed a less expensive battery charger from BatteryMINDER and I have been very satisfied. It has been 2.5 years and all has worked great. the chord just run in my boat and out the rear cleat zipper next to an outlet. I also plug in a small fan/dryer to reduce any moisture inside. I always put the boat up with all cushions off and areas open to help facilitate a completely dry boat. Both items plug in at the same location.

Anyway you do this, it is a great addition!!!!

  11. I recently installed FAE on my SV233. I do get some spray, but not significant. I haven't surfed enough lately to say I have put it through the ringer to know the complete picture. I am on spring break next week and hope to really test it out. I would recommend through bolting the attachment even though it is a a little more difficult to install. (not significant) I did it and would do it again. Like a lot of things, if I had to install again I could cut the time in half. Definitely less motor noise.

Not really. I'm sure my dealer will let me try his personal board but they don't stock boards. No one near me stocks wake surf boards. It's not a HUGE thing here. For example, ALL of my friends and family have been out on the lake with me over the years..Not one of them have ever heard of wake surfing. Actually, only one of my buddies knows about it and it's because I told him about it years ago and we both got into it. Same guy I grew up with surfing and snowboarding. Everyone else has no clue what it is. Stocking boards here is likely going to attract a TON of people but no one is willing to take that risk, yet.

thanks for the info. Mind sharing your weight and height? trying to make sure I'm not listening to some of you guys who are FAR more fit than me. I don't compare to a 21 year old who is at 5'9 and 150lbs or less...lol I'm 5'7 200lbs with a ton of board sport experience but still, I really don't want to waste 700 on a board I can never ride.

    Mike

The first questions would be are you committed to surf or skim. All else comes from that. Even if you ride both, you like have a preference. I am a big advocate for P5. A family owned business all made in the USA. They are continuing to improve the surf line, but their skim line is outstanding. I am 5-11 and 195 and ride the Matrix. The matrix is a lot different from the hammerhead because it is a bit more twitchy as I say. loose. Either you like it or you don't. They have a new board called the Hipsta, Real easy to ride and good for a lot of things. Wide rear makes it more difficult to ride revert, but I do it. I use it with one fin, but it comes with three. very fast
