  1. Finally got back to the pump problem last night - picked up a new pump on Amazon for less than $30 and had it installed in a few minutes. Thanks to everyone for the advice! Now back to the water!
  2. Hopefully this is better. The attached image isn't our boat, but a similar setup. The same model mayfair marine pump is located at the bottom of our center ballast. There are two hoses at the top of thank - fill and over fill (without knowing exactly what it is called.) When I hit the center ballast out switch, fuse pops. So I took the canister pump out of the yellow housing which allowed water to drain from the tank. I then hit the bilge pump switch, and the canister pump drained the water that was draining below the center tank. I am assuming that the cartridge pump attached to the tank is the ballast pump, I don't see any other pumps in the tank...but seems like it turned on with the bilge switch?
  3. So the odd part, I removed the cartridge and let the water drain, then hit the bilge pump button, that pump turned on and pumped the water out of the bilge. That is the only pump that I see connected at a low point on the tank to empty the water. When the bilge switch was turned on and the cartridge installed, it did not pump from the tank...so I am confused! I will try what you have suggested above. Thanks!
  4. I guess I am making assumptions. There is a pump mounted to the bottom of the center ballast tank, when I pull the cartridge out, water runs out of the center ballast. When I turn on the bilge pump that pump turns on. So I assumed that the center ballast out switch also turned that same pump on to drain the center tank? That pump is a Mayfair 28512. Thanks for the help...
  5. Our Avalanche only has one factory center ballast, last week at Lake Powell the tank would fill, but when attempting to drain the fuse would pop as soon as I flipped the switch to off. I have never really looked at the pumps before, but determined (correct me if I'm wrong) that the ballast drain pump is the same as the bilge pump. I removed the pump cartridge and opened the top vent on the tank to get the water out. The bilge pump worked to pump the water out...so I am not sure where to look next to troubleshoot. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
  6. The wires look ok, nothing noticeable. Is there any others troubleshooting that you would recommend? Could it have been damaged during winterization/summarization? Thanks for and help you can provide!
  7. Thanks - I will check it out when I get home tonight!
  8. To be honest, I was hoping to get to insight to where the transducer on our boat is located. Or a good guess!
  9. - we were definitely off the trailer...just shut it off and continued playing. Still trying to fix the problem!
  10. I have an 04 Centurion Avalanche with a Faria Pilot I. I have had the boat for 3 years, experienced the same problem as original poster yesterday for the first time. Curious to hear a fix.
