  1. I have a 2003 Cyclone V Drive and the V Drive light is on. The oil level is fine and it runs fine. No weird noise or anything. What else causes this light to go on?
  2. the light stays on all the time, no matter the rpm
  3. Seems simple, right? I have a 2002 Hurricane and there are 2 screws on the bezel on the exterior. But when I take the screws out, the bezel won't move. I took the center seat cushion out and was barely able to squeeze my head under to see that the bezels are siliconed to the hull from the inside. This makes sense as to not allow water to get in. But how the heck do you get to the bulbs?? I can't reach my arm that far. Are the bezels in fact supposed to come out from the exterior? Or do I need to find a skinny, long armed person to reach from under the center seat?
  4. No, the seat does not flip up. Just the butt pads in the bow can be removed. Not sure how to detach the back rest part of the cushion from the hull.
  5. really? I don't know anyone who could reach that. Pliers are a good idea, but how do you grab the end of a bulb with those? Plus you can't see what you're doing.
  6. My boat is a 2002 hurricane. It died on lake yesterday. It cranks, but won't fire up. It will however fire up if you spray starting fluid in the throttle body which tells me the boat isn't getting fuel. I located the high pressure pump in the cool fuel black box and it does turn on when the key is turned. Does that mean the pump is fine? My local shop said there might be a low pressure pump that supplies fuel to that high pressure pump, and it could be bad. Does anyone know if there are in fact 2 fuel pumps on a 2002 centurion v drive? If so, where is the low pressure pump located. (pics are great!) Thanks in advance
  7. got the fuel pump in and it runs great now. So that was the problem all along. It was an annoying job, but nothing the average handyman can't handle.
  8. I ordered a new fuel pump and cooler ($350) and will be putting it in this weekend. will let you know
  9. found a service bulletin from Mercury that said they added the boost pump starting the year that my boat was made, but that some boats left the factory without it installed. Unfortunately that bulletin has expired and if I want the boost pump, I have to fork out the $750 for the kit. But this boost pump was only to help with vapor locking, so this has nothing to do with my problem.
  10. I called Mercury marine and they said I'm supposed to have a boost pump which is located above the fuel/water separator, but I do not have one. Or at least it isn't located where the service manual says it is. (They sent me a picture of its location) I guess I will have to pull back the carpet and trace the fuel line under the floor and hope I find it. If not, then I have no idea what to do.
  11. if I'm going straight and start turning right or left, it isn't a smooth gradual turn. At a certain point in the turn, the rudder seems to "bite" and jerk the boat in that direction. This is a new boat to me and the owner had the steering cable replaced last summer. Is this steering issue normal? If not, what is happening?
  12. It jerks into a sharper turn. I will try checking the tracking fins and check the rudder for play later. Thanks
  13. It is very smooth. I've had a '96 Elite V-drive and it did not do this. Not sure what is causing it to "jerk" at a certain point
  14. Hey there. Looking for my first Centurion. Found a pretty good deal on a 2002 Tornado, but I've never heard of this. What is the difference between the elite v-drive, the Tornado, and the Hurricane? The more info, the better. Thanks in advance!!
  15. so if I just make sure I don't ever "try out " surfing, I should be fine, right?
  16. We are wakeboarders and relaxers, so that's ok that it's not the greatest wakesurfing boat. Do you know what type of ballast pump this boat has and where it is located? They told me it needs to be replaced.
  17. It's a 2002 hurricane. Not sure what style it has??
  18. Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd just piggy back on this one. My question.... Where is the ballast pump located and is it easy to replace? Thanks
  19. Awesome info. I'm guessing I am looking at a 2002 hurricane and not the Tornado since it is a V-drive (engine in the back). The boat has ballasts, but not perfect pass. Was that just option selections for that year?
  20. BUMP. So I learned they made a storm series, which included the hurricane, cyclone, tornado, and typhoon. But I cannot find what the differences are between all of them. What makes it the "storm series" vs regular elite v-drive? Please help if you know this stuff. Thanks
  21. I have a 96 Elite V-Drive and the tachometer has just recently been acting funny. Sometimes it works fine, but most of the time, it acts crazy and reads very inaccurate RPMs. I tried tapping on the guage, but it doesn't fix it. It just works when it "wants" to. I also notice that when I shut the engine off, the needle doesn't always go all the way down to zero. My question is..... Do tachs either work or not work? Am I looking like I need to replace the tach, or could there be connection issues? If so, why all of a sudden would I have a connection issue? Other possibilities? Thanks for any knowledgable feedback
  22. still waiting for a link to wiring diagrams. why are these so hard to find??
