We can seem to get a good smooth looking wave on either side lots of whitewash and seems to be very steep . I have heard so much rave about the centurion wave and I am hopeful it is just me . My neighbors Malibu kicks up a nicer surf wave . Any help would be greatly appreciated . Generally there would be 3 people in boat for the most part a few times a year it will be 8-10. Thank you in advance
I assume you mean a 244. If you are using Quick Surf, do not use it.
Regular side:
Ram Port Side 100%
Ram STB Side 10%
Both PnP 100%
Trim 50%
CATS 30
Speed, 10.8 - 11.2 based on rider / style
If you have a lot of people in the boat fill the bow, if not do not.
If you raise the trim, (lower number) the wave will get steeper & a tad shorter.
Just the opposite for the STBD side.

if you do not use the factory brackets the Rev 10's fit nicely in the corners and you have plenty of head room. Plus they look much better than sticking g them on the downier mounts.

I have a 16- 244 with that engine. I also had a 14 244 with the 409
409 is a better motor hands down. However, the 343 has been completely fine.
The lack of top end is the new transmission. although, mine will hit 35, vs 41 on my 2014 so, nor sure why that one only hit 30...trim maybe? Any of the 16 boats will have that transmission keeping the RPM's higher
It does not struggle surfing at Surf speed at all. I have 585 hours on mine
I personally love the SV244 wave. All in All, that's a great seal on the boat! plus the 16 vinyl is better than the 14-15's

If you look where the ram fill vents are on an SV vs an FS will show you a distinct advantage of capacity. Also, if you lift the seat of a 244 vs that of an 44, there is a lot less room under the seat of the 44
On 2/3/2018 at 0:35 PM, lovetosurf said:FS33 and 44 definitely do not have the same cabin space, the 44 is noticeably longer inside. The FS33 is still a great all round boat, storage space, freeboard, ride, wave etc... you can’t go wrong, especially if you can find a 16’ with the upgraded motors.
What I meant was the two 23 ft models SV233 & FS33 have the same size cockpit as the FS44 & SV244 share the same cockpit size.
-
The rear "cabin" areas of the boat are the same size from 23 -24
FS hulls have a higher freeboard than that of the SV
The amount of Ramfill Ballast is significantly more in the FS line
As you mentioned the bows are different
They have completely different wave shapes however.

yes, pond one, 70 degree water temp not happening on the cold side!

I think that is a great price for that boat!!
Colors are awesome. (flake is $$) 2016 was that last & best year for the SV Hull's. Better vinyl too. Good price considering what a new boat cost, & this will throw an amazing wave!!!

16 hours ago, Nick213 said:LKASurfring couldn't you put a electric diverter valve and switch in to still use the touch vision for both bags?
18 hours ago, Ddhockett said:Thanks for the advice LKASurfing, I haven't found the wiring harness for the bow PNP yet but I was considering using it to run a second pump for one of the rear lockers.
No problem! (The plug for the bow bag should will be tied up in the rear of the boat somewhere)
Just from having a 2012 with this installed and then having newer models with dedicated switches it is a no brainer. I went on my friends 2012 earlier this summer and when we switched sides I was reminded of of long this process takes. I told him this winter I am drilling a new hole in his boat and adding another pump! LOL
-
I would recommend adding an additional switch and pump vs that of using the the valve. You will be able to switch sides much faster that way. You could empty one while filling the other. With the valve, you must wait until the one side has drained then wait to fill the other, adds twice the time. Also the case if you plan on using a suck gate. Twice the time to fill & empty boat sides.
They only used this valve for late 2012 boats & 2013.

7 hours ago, Darkside said:Very nice riding! However i have to agree with @Fivebar2 boat must not have been set up right. The 257 is insane, and can create almost any shape/length your looking for with proper weight and adjustment. You are correct in it needs 800-1000 pounds of lead to reach optimal potential.
I have found the stinger is critical in getting length/push ballance.
Trim was at 20, had run it to 0 as well, but wave was to short, Surf Tab at 60. I had set the boat up weighted evenly because I was towing a local INT comp.
I know with extra weight I could get a better wave out of it for sure. It was great for completely stock and only 3 people in the boat.

I joke. I really wasn't trying to be mean about the wave. Like you say, a wave can be difficult to judge on pics and videos, but if you've ridden them all then I trust your review for sure
LOL , I just like what I like, can't help it! I actually love the 16-18 G23 waves more than the Ri, if they have a little weight in them! lol, still not as good as mine, but I like them because of the lip, as do my twins that both compete in the Outlaw division.
I am just so glad I had ordered another 244 in 16, just saying! All that said, it was a really great wave, but my biggest take away was how well the boat drives, compared to the 237.

Center tab = the lower the number, the steeper (also shorter) the wave will get
Surf Tabs = same principle. 80 is pretty mellow. I have had better luck in the 60 - 65 range when running an evenly weighted boat. This will steepen the wave & create push in the back then use center trim to adjust to taste.
CATS = Should be to the right, so + 10 or more

7 hours ago, DrNate said:Nice skills. Wave seems okay
I do prefer the wave on my 244, it is longer and has more push in the back. Plus I prefer a wave with a distinct lip. But this wave was definitely taller and was stronger closer to the boat, it took some adjustment to get used too.It was like a combo wave between an FS44 & 244. I have not been a fan of the Ri's at all. But the 257 is a great boat far & above the other two Ri's
Waves are difficult to judge on pictures and videos, strategic angles and perspective can make or break them. For just setting the boat up and only 3 people on the boat, I was pretty impressed, I am sure with some additional weight strategically placed it would amazing.
Thanks for watching!

Big thank you to Joe Overby at Overby Marine at Lake Gaston NC. He let me go out and shred this beast of a boat!
I am very impressed with this boat, it is definitely a huge step up from the 237, IMO. The larger prop means this boat surfs at like 3,000 rpms. Was super quiet as well. Also, the boat handles extremely well, does not seem near as big in the water as it is on the trailer! This boat really surprised me!
Short edit of me surfing ---still can't figured out to embed the video....

I have the silent tip Exhaust on both my 244's and did not on my 233. The silent tip makes a big difference. I would agree, not as silent as a FAE, but its completely fine for me and does not affect the wave.
I have also used the factory High Altitude prop with no issues.

Ah, okay. They should be located on blocks glued to the transom wall. If they did not install the blocks there, the easiest spot is to mount them behind the back seat. the wires should be wrapped up with a zip ties somewhere. They would have gray plug on them. I have installed "Factory Ballast" on a couple 2012 233's. Also installed rear bags on 2- 2014 244's.
Couple points. ...Make sure you run your vent lines to the bow, like they did on the FS boats. The problem with cross venting is that if the bags are very full they can syphon out easily, especially if you list your boat and keep both bags full.
I saw you mention bag size on another thread. The rear locker height is different on a 233 vs that of a 244. 244 is taller. I have found 750's work great in earthier boat, they obviously fill more on a 244. I have the the factory 12-13 factory PnP bags in mine, they are close to 750's but are longer and a tad shallower, they fill that rear locker really well.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Finding the pump wires should be very easy. Start at the Pumps, You have at the most three. as Stated they are either on the wall behind the seat back in the engine bay, mounted to blocks on the transom, or possibly if your boat is early enough they are mounted on the stingers straight down in the engine bay.
They will be a heavier gauge wire.

Would love to see a picture of your boat! not may 16-SV244's were made.
So I am headed to Chattanooga today to pick up this boat as my friend is trading in his Supreme on it! So stoked I will have another 244 on our lake to shred behind!
