06 Avalanche upgrade ballast bags
Buzz replied to hummer2482's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
We had the hard tanks and put two 1100 fly highs got the adapters, lines that wake-makers recommends.....super wake now. Also we added check valves on the fill lines so the sacs stay full. We use the stock pumps and they are slow but good opportunity to swim, eat, get your gear ready, etc. We need ballast for the front or side, still trying to figure how we want to do that. Only other two mods I would like are wake plate and different prop. -

Captain's Choice SideSwipe Exhaust - Is it possible?
Buzz replied to Big Po's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
I think it would be nice to have the option of switching from side to side or to the rear.......since that is what I thought I was getting when i ordered side swipe to begin with.......I love ss for surfing but rarely like the loud noise for wb or cruising......someday I will go with baffles to help reduce noise. -
I had an 02 Hurricane main thing i found lowering will do is keep it from porpoising at high speeds, and perhaps flatten the wake a bit for slalom.....it is a fast boat. I didn't have rear ballast but i assume you could surf upgrading to some big sacks.....that boat you can actually slalom behind and wakeboard also. I dont have the power wake plate which is why your topic caught my eye.....im looking to make mine power somehow..... Only time i need it down is when someone wants to put a ski on......pain to lower in the water......May try to go with a Bennett?

steering cable for 2005 avalanche
Buzz replied to Geannine's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
Darlene, perhaps something was caught on the rudder's bellcrank that snapped or gave way. That is from inside bilge area just behind the engine where the rudder comes up thru the hull. You may want to look for debris? As far as looking at the number on my cable it was wore off could not read them. Dealer/mechanic had mentioned that to me last year when i had mentioned to him about the hard steering. He said he would have to pull it out and measure. After i got the cable out it was a few inches shorter than the original....almost a foot. It still fit even with taking a longer route. Instead of going thru the floor at the kick panel, we went just forward of the foot well and thru the floor under the walk thru/cooler. I did the same thing Steedracer did by taking the ball-joint bracket out that i didnt need to, i thought it was loose. Apparently thats the design to allow flexing? It also tells me its one of the rattling sounds i have heard when turning hard at low speed. Pulling floor panel out and ballast tanks were a must. Also a maint tip dont forget the greese fitting on the rudder. Now that i know what to do i will not hesitate to do it again. This is not much help for the Enzo i suppose? -
Thanks everyone......I will look into getting a 12FT. That makes sense even though I'm very happy with this boat you just never know. One problem i have is I'm waiting on the decision from the city on ordinances.....we have a gestapo/mafia, city govt. that likes to have control on the people here......its about money too!

i think I'm going to have to pull it out on an level street and measure. Apparently there is a lot of variance. Just realized also my driveway is a little rutted so not a good place to measure from.

Yes that helps thanks....it helps give me some idea....i figure give or take a little i could modify something to make sure it fits.

Im planning a garage to be built. Does anyone know about how high the 2005 Avalnche is with tower up and on the trailer. Its the stock tower. I know it varys on where the jack is set or the vehicles hitch height. Im planning for a 10' tall door. The measurements im getting are approx. 9' plus, and less than 10'.

Ballast 05 Avalanche C4
Buzz replied to Buzz's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
I will probably go with W719, 1100 LBS sacks. Now my question is what fittings will i need to use with the stock mayfair pump. Eventually i will probably upgrade the sysytem with better pumps valves etc. Is there a chart list or guide on this? Looks like i will have to make a bracket for the pump, get a hose that connects to the bag also. Im thinking i can get these at the hardware store also? -

Ok i was making it too hard.....that should be a pretty easy mod. I just need to figure out which bags hook up.....still may just go with the 750's if the cost is a big difference. Thanks! -
steering cable for 2005 avalanche
Buzz replied to Geannine's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
Just changed my steering cable, thanks to all the posts I read. The difference i would maybe consider the 20ft cable instead of the 19ft. I changed the route from the original so there wouldnt be as sharp a bend radius...another foot would give a little more slack. However I now have fingertip steering...i never had that even when the boat was new in 05. I still need to water test. Wake it up thanks for the part number.....also notice you live in the town I was born in when my Dad was in the Airforce. -

Whats the best way to reinforce the divider....my guess would be to make a splice plate between the two dividers. The only other support would be off the ski pylon frame.
