  1. sorry, its been raining all week, and even some hail/snow so we havent been out yet. I think there might be some sucker holes of sun today so we might get out, but not in the water.

     

    The stereo is some sort of grounding issues, we have 4 stock rack speakers on the rack with an extra amp, and thats where i think the issue lies.

     

    How many buttons do you need to push to get into the provision timer control for the ballast? I was told to bump it up to a few extra minutes until the bags were over flowing then subtract a minute. I dont want to have to look to see if my bags are full.

     

     

    I coulnd't tell you off the top of my head, but if I remember correctly, you just go into "Settings" and you can find the stock times there. The hardest part is navigating between the times, hitting the arrow buttons up and down and left and right. You'll see what I mean when you get there. It's not too bad once you get the hang of it. I would be interested to hear if this works well for you or not. Please let us know if you play around with it. Heck, I might play around with mine again tomorrow if I get some extra time (and I probably will)


  2. Congrats to all of you new boat owners and great looking boats. How do you 2011 new boat owners like that new balast system? I seen this work in the Calabria boats for years. Makes a lot of sense to have the valves open an fill the tanks and to empty them just open the valves then drive off.

     

     

    I absolutely love the quick fill. 500 lbs per side in 90 seconds, I love it!


  3. I have either owned or ridden in almost every possible boat brand that you can imagine. I grew up on the water and have been on or around the water my entire life. And I just bought a brand new 2011 Centurion and I can assure you that the fit and finish and ride is second to no other brand, and I mean no other brand. Just sayin'. There's something wrong with yours, I promise. Get it fixed and you might even agree with me.


  4. Well, the first thing I did was to go into the Provision dash and increase all of the times manually so to ensure that all the bags were full. (I incorrectly thought that the ProVision would shut off the pump after it thought the bag was full whether it was full or not) After talking to the big wig guy at Centurion, he told me that was a bad idea so I changed them all back to stock :) The bottom line is that the only way to know for sure whether the ballast bag(s) are full is to either look at them or wait until they overflow out of the side of the boat. To me, the ProVision readings of how full the ballast bags are is completely irrelevant really. I would like to think that the Pro Vert system is accurate as far as being full when it says it is full because it does not utilize pumps at all.

     

    I can't believe that after that long winded review, I forgot to talk about the stereo system! Mine had no buzz or engine whine whatsoever, thankfully. Sound was deep and rich, very satisfying overall. My only complaint about the stereo is that you cannot change the volume with the ProVision dash unless the key is turned on :( I don't know if you could do it with the wireless remote, I did not try that, but I will next time out.

     

    Any other revelations about your 240 NWRider? Still didn't get the stereo buzz fixed? Also, is your bimini top a pain in the rear to put up/take down? Also, does your cruise control fluctuate speed as much as mine?


  5. Okay, I'm getting a better picture now after a little more reading and actually being in the boat :) Any sac I add will be on top of the pro vert tank. An Enzo sac will not work because the space does not continue forward up under the port side seating. I guess I will keep the port midship ballast bag just as it is and get a custom sac to fill the entire port rear locker. But then I have to buy another pump and figure out how to wire and route everything, not my strong suit. I will keep you all posted.....

    Well, the ride was awesome. We've stepped up from a 21 foot Moomba into this beast and the ride is no comparison. I found the handling to be a little tougher due to size (not as nimble), but that was to be expected. Trailering and launching proved fairly easy, althogh I learned that because of the V-hull, you have to launch a bit deeper.

     

    The Pro Vision dash takes a little getting used to. After about 20 minutes or so, I was fairly comfortable with navigating it. My biggest complaint is that you cannot go by the ballast gauges. They are set on time, and I like to be able to look with my eyes to see if a tank is full. Especially the sacks, for example, it said they were full when they were only half full. I had to remove a divider to see the midship bags.

     

    After much confusion regarding the quick fill operation, I talked to my dealer who hooked me up with a big wig at Centurion (on a Saturday afternoon I might add!). The confusion was because I was not able to water test my boat with the dealer when I picked it up due to distance away and a massive storm that had blown in and low lake conditions. Anyway, for those of you interested, here is the deal with the quick fill:

     

    QFP=quick fill port QFS=quick fill starboard QFC=quick fill center. These can all be seen on the provision dash. I didn't understand this before, but I totaly understand it now. The thing is, this system is totally separate from the ballast system and operates much differently and uses hard tanks instead of ballast bags. They key is that it uses like a flood gate (no pumps) to rapidly fill and empty these three compartments. What that means is that you must be sitting still to fill and you must be moving to empty. I was trying to fill them while moving and all the water just rushes out of it. It's almost the opposite of the ballast system with the bags and pumps which sometimes you need to be moving before you turn the pump on to "prime" the system. In the end, I have to say, I love the quick fill system. It works perfectly when you know what you're doing and it is very fast. I don't want to replace that hard tank on the port side because of that. I would rather add ballast on top of it if I can (more on that in a minute).

     

    For those of you interested, the ballast system on the Pro Vision dash is listed as PBP=Pro Ballast Port. PBS=Pro Ballast Starboard. PBM=Pro Ballast Middle. Typing this now seems obvious, but seriously, there's nothing at all about any of this in any of the manuals, which is kinda dumb if you ask me. Anyway, these you will want to verify visually to see if they are actually full or not. The problem is that you can't see the middle sac as it is allegedly under the ice chest area? Don't know if that is true or not, I could not find it or see it. I don't like relying on a timed gauge to guess that it is full. Another way I suppose is to let it continue to fill until it starts overflowing. I did this finally with the midship port bag and then checked it visually--it was indeed full.

     

    I didn't think I would like the tinted window, but I did. The ice chest kept ice in it all day, which was a shock (never had a boat that did that). My only complaint there is that the ice chest lid doesn't stay open, it is awkard and closes rapidly. A little snap on the back or something similar would have been nice to lock it open.

     

    The bimini top was a PITA. My dealer said it was "self explanatory". Well, kinda. It took me and a buddy 20 minutes to figure it out. And I'm still not sure we went about it the "proper" way, if there is such a thing with it.

     

    The biggest disappointment of the day is that the surf wave was tiny with all the port bags and tanks full and center full, with about 350 lbs. worth of people on the port side. And because the wave was so small, speed was extremely critical and the cruise fluctuated waaaaay too much, within 2 miles an hour of where we set it. (I'm hoping maybe this is adjustable? If so, please help in this regard!) Overall disappointing but I knew going into it that I would need to add more weight to get it like I want. Now this is the dilemma....

     

    I currently own an Enzo sac which I was gonna put in place of the port hard tank. But I love that quick fill hard tank and would rather keep it. So do I get a sac that can go on top of it with a finger that runs along the port side in place of the port midship tank? This is the direction that I am leaning. But then, do I used the midship pumps and reroute the lines to fill the new sac there (enzo or custom?!?). I know the Enzo sac wouldn't fill completely, but if I could get it two-thirds full it would be decent there. It would take forever to fill, so I could eventually uprade the pumps on it if I felt led to. Any and all thoughts and suggestions on this would be appreciated. I am not mechanically inclined at all, so any and all mods scare me to death. But I must do something because I currently have a brand new surf boat that is unsurfable :(

     

    I also forgot to add the first time: I know a lot of people have made a big deal about not liking the front vent. It's not my favorite thing, but it's really not a big deal. The thing seems pretty hard and very sturdy. If you could put an anchor or other object through it, it would certainly damage the gel coat severely there if the vent wasn't there. I feel there is no chance of putting a heel or elbow or knee through it.
