  1. Boat is almost done with all the repairs I listed. Currently it’s off the trailer on bunks getting the gel coat fixed and carpet changed on trailer due to all the metal shavings on it.

I tried to trade it in but no dice. Not spending 20k plus for an 18 238’ that I don’t want anyhow. I’d like to get something more crossover friendly like Axis, but no one wanted my boat especially with all the warranty work that needed done first. Maybe next year.

Thank God for the mechanic/service/everything. Without him I would be no where. Nice work Mason.

  2. These are big boats. Please for the safety of every one on the road, get a vehicle that’s rated for this and actually handles it on the low end of the spectrum, i.e. don’t max the thing out!!!

I’m so sick of seeing half tons squatting on its bump stops, barely holding together, with seats full of unsuspecting children, doing 75 down the highway and smoking its brakes all the way down into the lake.

Get a full size rig people.

Don't have hard feelings about it. You had a bad experience this past summer. No reason not to be frustrated whether you misunderstood something or not. The dealer should have been doing whatever they could to fix it during the summer so you could enjoy the boat they sold you. My dealer was on top of every single thing I asked him about this summer whether is was a question about the wave, my first maintenance or just checking in to see how things were going. Maybe I'm spoiled.

For me, I'm bummed that you are turning away from a great boat based on a dealer and possibly a bad batch. Your NEW boat shouldn't have had these issues, period.

Thanks Mfaso. Not sure on new boat yet. I really wasn’t prepared to fork over anymore money, so we may run this one another summer, just not sure yet.

  4. Boat is going in this week for service. Two sides to every story, and there was just a bunch of miscommunication on both sides, me included.

I firmly believe they will handle the issues and really wish admin would contact me so I can edit a previous post about my dealer as it wasnt fair on my part.

Moving forward, I still like the dealer, had a few road bumps, and I’m not innocent in this. Hopefully all will be well shortly.

Why is this the only forum that doesn’t allow editing?

Thank you everyone who answered. These are all great tips and I hope that they are useful to many other happy S238 owners.

I found that the quality of the boat is outstanding, the V hull cuts chop great. We got the PCM Crusader and it pulls all the weight like a champ.

The only problem that I have is all the warnings and stickers. I understand that this is a California boat but they really went overboard with the stickers. There are stickers that refer to things that this boat doesn’t even have...  I am still working on removing all except for the capacity one. When friends came for a ride we had a blast reading them. Still laughing at the “still looking for the sticker with the warning that something is going to give you cancer” and “we need another sticker to warn you not to read all the other stickers while driving due to risks of crashes”. But I guess this is a good problem to have. It’s a work of love to make that whole wall look neat.

We had the choice of getting a Supreme, an MB 52, Axis A24, used Malibu and used Mastercraft. To make it short we tried all these boats and we are still glad that we made this choice and the dealer was a great part of this decision.

For stickers use blow dryer, plastic scraper and 3m adhesive remover. Some of the stickers on mine were duplicates. Weird.

I feel for you man. I can't believe the experience you are having. My only question is, why wait on calling Supreme directly? I wouldn't hesitate to call them and get someone on the line to hear your story. I think waiting on making that call is hurting you. That dealership shouldn't be selling their boats. CALL supreme and they will call your dealer by the time you get off with them. You have every reason to call, and no reason to wait. Good luck man. I hope everything works out for you.

You make a great point, I was just trying to be fair to the mechanic. He said my boat would be in by the end of the month.

I should probably at least give Supreme a heads up.

I guess I still keep wondering, am I being too nit picky? These seem like big problems to me.

The fact that I don't see any trips to the county jail proves you are a better man than me......  Hopefully it all works out before next season and maybe you will be able to get a new boat from another dealer up in that area. I thought there were some good ones mentioned up in Oregon/Washington.

It has been a very frustrating experience to say the least. I really thought I did my due diligence on this one, but as it turns out, I did not.

There are a few dealers up in the Portland area, just kinda in limbo with this warranty work. I will talk to Supreme at the end of the month.

Would it make sense to get pricing now on your next boat, so if later down the line, maybe a month or two, you work something out with Supreme you could defer back to the lowest pricing you would have been offered and apply it to that purchase? Dam I hope that makes sense, it did in my mind until I started trying to type it out

Lol, I think it makes sense....

XJ - Call supreme directly. When I was buying my boat I called them and I was able to get the regional sales rep to call me.(Not that my dealer wasn't awesome but I didn't know them well and I wanted to ask direct questions) He will take care of you. The dealer should be taking care of it and supreme PAYS them an hourly rate to do so.(and sends them the parts needed, if any)

Thanks. I may try that. I'm trying to be patient, but I'm wearing thin.

you might be the only person I have ever heard say that. The B52 Surf wake by all accounts, is superior especially with the 2018, it surfs amazing right from the factory with literally zero messing around. The fit and finish isn't even close. MB is head and shoulders in terms of interior looks and quality. One visit to the MB boat owners site and you can find tons of pics and videos of amazing MB wakes. On here I haven't seen more than 1 or two that make me think the S238 can hold candle to either the Tomcat or the B52.

The things I have observed that I like better on the Supreme are, the interior is deeper, noticeably which is odd because it looks to have significantly less free board than either the tomcat or the B52. The S238 also seems to have more room than the B52. The S238 looks better sitting in the water.

I'm not a fan of either dashboard, but I hate the MB less. The S238 looks like someone stuffed some gauges in a nylon backpack and shoved it up against the windshield.

My local dealer assures me its a surf monster and I like it enough to demo it before I make a move on my next boat but the marginal interior, the lack of free board and the absence of verifiable big surf waves definitely has me leaning MB... for now.

Any progress? I'd kill yo trade my pos Supreme for a 17 or 18' MB, of course that would require my dealer to actually fix my boat and be true to their word.

OP, careful in the dealer you choose.

I hear ya. I would be pretty pi$$ed if that was happening to me as well. Sounds like a $hit a batch was sent out by you, somehow. You are taking it better than me. I'd probably be trying to tell the dealer I want a full refund. If you are ever in the NJ/NYC area send me a message and we'll go out. I'm guessing the issues you are having are effecting the wake board wake as well but I'd have to play with that more to see if I can get good results. I'll try in April. I hope is all works out for you man.

Thats the thing, I was told one thing, full buy out, and now receiving another, trade in. Be very careful who you buy from, like we have much choice. I'm beyond unhappy at this point, just trying to make the best of it.

I have seen very few unhappy and those who are have either had some odd issues that none of us are having and/or are just not getting the setup right. Before buying mine I started a thread here about it(It's down low somewhere). I was worried about a lot of things, such as the wave size and dropping the rope. This was my first season. I'm glad I looked into it so much but I can't say enough good things about the boat. I stuck my first 360 on the very last trip out(about two weeks ago now). If you were near me(NJ) I'd invite you out. The boat is awesome from top to bottom.

Only side note - I have NOT ridden the wakeboarding wake but, are you going to go pro? If not, I think you will be fine with it. You definitely aren't going to get anywhere near the same surf wave on those other boats. Another local has an axis and their wave is $hit compared to mine. Hate to compare but when you are out there and see another person surfing, you just watch for a bit. ;)

The wake is garbage under 22.5 mph, period. The wave is temperamental. The warranty sucks, I have a list a mile long that has been messed up since summer, and while it will be warrantied, it takes way too long for Supreme to make up their mine, and usually tells the dealer they have to go direct tbrough the manufacturer,ie wetsounds amp has been fried for a few months now with no new one yet.

I wish I were one of the few, however most of the 17 Supremes in this area are having alot of issues. I see them at the dealership first hand.

Mfaso, Im stoked for you sir. I truly wish my experience was the same. Part of this is on me, Supreme is not a wakeboat, its a surf boat, thats my bad.

    Ski Speed - 34 mph

    Wakeboard Speed - 22.5 mph

    Surf Speed - 11.0 mph

The Fi23 and Ri237 has a clean beginner wakeboard wake at 18mph w/ zero ballast (great shape too!). If you add more ballast you just need to speed up a bit to clean it up but with Ramfill full the wakeboard wake is clean at 20-21mph, maybe slower - I haven't played around with the speed when the boat is loaded up.

    Great info! Thank you.

I am not being a smartass. But if you don't really plan to surf or wakeboard.....  why would you want a wake / surf boat?   Why not just get a pontoon?   More room and you can just cruise and lounge around.

With that being said. I love my supreme.  It's an awesome surf boat. And fair wake boat.

Agreed. I had one, very low maintenance and inexpensive. And you can bbq on the boat.

If you want to cruise the lake and tube a bit, a run about, i/o would be a far less expensive option and they are easier to handle, ie, loading, trailering, and maneuvering.

Isn't Quick surf a "surf option with tabs"?

Exactly. Just saying that most have them these days so the playing field is somewhat more equitable across the board. However, some of the "surf" boats dont do crossover very well. Just my observation.

The Supreme is a good surf boat for the pricepoint.
