How do you pick up your rider?
Thursty replied to Bongo Fury's topic in Centurion Boats General Discussion
I turn towards the weighted side, after the fall. I slow the boat down but not entirely to idle until after I make the turn, that way the wave doesn't over run you. If you aren't careful and slow down too fast on the weighted side you can pull in a BUNCH of water into the boat. (only did once, and pulled in about 50 gallons, could of easily been a LOT worse.) I am waiting till the week of 90 degree weather here so the water doesn't freeze certain parts of my anatomy off... but am eagerly anticipating.... about 1 month and it's all open.... in about 2 weeks on a shallower lake we have around here that warms up first.... <sigh> I want to go out today, but the only 'person' I can get interested (that isn't at work), is Sam, my dog.... maybe I'll just go out and lay out....

Hopefully we'll be out there tonight, if not we'll be out Wed, and Thurs. we get on the river about 5:45pm, due to the lameness of having to work for my boat gas.... Will likely be out Friday (6th) as well. Hope to see you both out there!

Think I saw you a few days ago. I put in at Blackwell Island quite a bit (I'm in the Centurion Avalanche (Blue)) Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet up!

Give feedback and opinion on the board you surf!

I use a Asylum Surf skate http://www.trickboardz.com/. Looking at getting a Mojo Grande. We call ours the 'banana peel'. Never been on a surf style, just a skim. probably would of been better to start on a surf style, but we knew that we'd be wanting a skim style shortly, so we went there first. been riding it 2 summers now and it's great! little thin on the coating on the bottom, nothing a little solar rez (http://www.solarez.com/) won't put back to where it should be.... I will be buying a surf style and another skim style probably this fall or spring, considering what I'm riding, (which has been quite fun I might add), what should I look at next? -
Here's a pic from earlier this summer around the 4th of july, when we were up on Lake Pend Orielle. We'd been surfing, it'd been raining, and we got a nice rainbow.

Anyone on Lake Couer D' Alene?

I have my kids oil mine about once ever 3 weeks in the summer. stays in excellent shape. I have noticed some slight wearing where we deck start for surfing. may have to put a small spot of some deck rubber on that side.... any one done this? tips/tricks to making it stay in place?

DOH! sorry about that. Farragut State park is AWESOME to camp in. I'm personally into a little more rustic scenery. Full facilities, showers, swim area, etc, etc, etc. you will want to reserve online however. http://parksandrecreation.idaho.gov/parks/reserve.aspx page to start looking at reservations. Yes it is very close to Silverwood. (like less than 5 miles)

I generally go to Maiden Rock during the week, and stay for an extended period of time. It has vault toilet, but other than that I just load everything AND the kitchen sink and go up . Sry, probaby not the best services site, but in my opinion the best beach on the lake. (and it's a 20-30 minute 1 way ride (on water) from Farragut State Park, which is a bonus in our opinion) The best part of Maiden Rock is the lack of people. Very nice getaway. Note: there has been a large increase in poison ivy on the lake the last few years. So be aware! Takes me about 10 minutes to be ready, to fill all the fat sacks etc.

I hear that. I have a 2004 Avalanche, similar external to yours except Blue with silver lightning. I got center ballast, (approx 250), (looking at rear to front of boat) right rear walk thru locker 370lb, 750 lb. left rear locker, and 155 lb. left front, plus any crew. puts the rub rail right at the water level. had several Malibu's mention that they couldn't even see the back end of my boat when I was underway.

NICE! I spent June 30 thru July 11th camped at Maiden Rock! Rained until the 4th got over, then the sun came out and was AWESOME. What do you run for a ballast setup?

I was out surfing last weekend, and after about 4 hrs the engine cut out, wouldn't rev. more than about 1200 rpm w/o dying. Doing Research here, I found out it was likely a sensor, since there weren't any other indicators. (research here came up with a water flow sensor) Anyway after a $112 part and them testing the crap out of it, it all seems to be working again. My question is this: How often/likely is a sensor failure? Should I get the handheld computer for my boat? what do they cost? Where could I get one, etc? I am a Database Administrator and Software Developer by day (wave rider whenever I can manage it.) So basic engines and computers are a natural for me. In the end, what do I need to know/learn to make this an effective pathway? I want my baby to be in perfect condition, and the best way I can see to do that is to do it MYSELF. Imagine a Centurion Owner feeling that way..... heh heh
