hi all.....anyone know what the vents are for below the windshield........?

SO ya swamped my engine compartment during a storm yesterday....boat still runs.....spuders at cruse......oil shows no signs of water contamination......i'm going to start by changing oil, water, filters, and look at the cap and roter.....if any one has any other suggestions i thank u in advance......
