  1. We might get another day here. Until then this will be the last footy of the year: Me taking yet another stab at a 360. Did manage to ride away from a couple this year. Hopefully my completion rate will improve next season. https://youtu.be/Ha5iltBMyaE
  2. Welcome! We ride on the lower end of the Columbia near Hood River. Lots of wind this year but we did manage to hit most all the glassy days. We also kitesurf so don't mind the wind and large swells on the Columbia. We modified some of the surf boards I built for kites to try them behind the boat. They all worked pretty well and although a little small for me behind the boat, a particular 4-8 twin was my go-to kite surfboard this year. Fun season! I hope to have time to design & build some boards this winter. PM me if you pass through Hood River. I have an extra suck gate if you want to try one. All the best, Hein
  3. Here is our version 3 with articulating cups.: The area ahead of the side swipe on our boat is slightly curved top-to-bottom. It is difficult to attach the wedge securely dry but works much better in the water. It floats if it does come off. I CNC'd an extra set of parts so could assemble the wedge and send that to you. I'd like to have someone else try it. Cut out the handle as shown. Drill and tap the sides of the cups for 1/4-20 or a through hole for long 1/4" bolt also works. Send me a PM with your shipping address.
  4. We have an 08 Enzo. On our latest suckgate I cut out the handle, moved the suction cups together and made them swivel between the frame. It works fine positioned just ahead of the sideswipe. It is difficult to install laying on the swim deck without pulling yourself overboard. I have someone hold my legs down when installing it. It easily stays put for the day. Ours floats so no worries if it falls off but it never has.
  5. Check the shaft coupler bolts while you are in there.
  6. We have the 4 OEM hard tanks and I added another slightly smaller tank on top of each rear tank. Photo below. Guessing the tanks all full are ~2000lbs. In addition, we have a 250 lb sack on the rear seat and a 250lb bow bag - both full. With 4 people on the boat. 2 batteries and a spare battery. The two passengers sit on the port side so the boat is just slightly listed. The suck gate is 8 x 8 and angled back at 37 degrees. Our rpm went from 2600 to 2800.
  7. Video below is of our suckgate in action. Worked great. Never fell off even though it floats. Taller longer wave with lots more push. RPMs were up 300ish and as a result burned more fuel. Lot's of spray off the gate which got into the vent so we had to run the bilge from time to time. Planning on some redesign to hopefully reduce that. Very stoked with the improvement in the wave and even rode away from my first 360. Rider in the video is my daughter, Kaela. https://youtu.be/Xu7umy9zNd8
  8. through the cup part with a truss head screw and then some nuts.
  9. Finished the assembly and trying to figure out how I'll attach it to the boat while in the water without going for a swim. Also, the hull of our Enzo has a slight curve where the gate needs to go so it's hard to keep the two suction firmly planted while pulling the levers. I later cut the handle out of the suction thing so the two cups are mounted independently. I was hoping that would allow some flex between the two to accommodate the curve but I really need to redesign the frame to be more flexible to make that happen. I'll water test this; if the results are favorable then I'll work on version 2.
  10. Working on ours. CAD model below. Parts are cut and ready to assemble.
  11. A lot of windy days in the Columbia Gorge this year but still getting out on the glassy ones. (We also kitesurf so love the wind too). Kim making some turns:
  12. My daughter and I both ride a Phase Five Wire Surf. Nailed my first 360 on it just the other day. We did put some smaller fins on it.
  13. Have you located the transducer and checked the wires to it? http://faria-instruments.com/products.php?calledGauge=2_depthsndr
  14. Noise results for the cowl were good but not sure about whether there was any improvement to exhaust smell for the rider. We still ran with the sideswipe set to the opposite side as the rider. We'll leave them on and do some more evaluation. Here is a video while surfing at about 11 mph. And one at the dock at idle. (Before the ballast tanks were full. With tanks full the exhaust is underwater.) Close up while surfing:

We are in Hood River so probably a little closer to the snow melt. Water and air were both 60F yesterday but we are pansies. ha ha. Warmer today but we have a light easterly spoiler wind.

Nice Memorial Day session. Still a bit chilly in the Columbia. Plenty of sun shine to warm up the wetsuit. Yours truly making some turns, between backside and spin attempts.
  17. We've owned this boat for about a year and we are hooked on wake surfing. So I've been making some improvements and have ambitions to do more. Who doesn't like a project, anyway... Last summer I added 2 more hard tanks in the back on top of the stock hard tanks. Probably should have went with Enzo sacs but would have to fab a better enclosure for those. Additional hard tanks were easier at the time. Also added a bow bag (with vent and a drain pump) and another pump to fill it and the bag we put on the back seats. photos coming up...
  18. Moderators, Please delete this whole thread. It's a duplicate.
  19. Thanks for the info regarding the Enzo sacs. Being new to wake surfing boats, we didn't realize how much innovation is being applied to improving the size and shape of the wake. I think it's awesome! Adding ballast is straight forward enough. We ride on the Columbia River with barge traffic so would like to keep the rub rail mostly dry and prefer to be more or less evenly weighted. So in attempt to draw the wave out a bit I added a 'beaver' tail to the OEM fixed trim plate. It's CNC'd to fit over the OEM tab and attached with two rows of 1/4-20 bolts. There was no real reason to flare it out other than to not have it rectangular. Material is 1/2" HDPE (Seaboard). It's was on there all last season. There is a little bit of flex in it. Our wave on a good day.
  20. Thanks and agree that bags are a needed upgrade. Our dividers would need some help for sure. There is quite a bit of sharp stuff (fiberglass edges, etc.) where the bags would go so would need to sort that out.
  21. I designed some cowls for the side swipe ports to help reduce exhaust noise. These are 3D printed by Shapeways. We tried version 1 last year but they fell off because I hurriedly attached them with silicon sealant. The noise was less but we didn't get a chance to fully test with them. Version 2 below is attached internally with small angle brackets held on by the screws in the sideswipe bezel. And then the perimeter is sealed with urethane adhesive. Hopefully they'll stay put this time so we can make a proper evaluation. I am hoping these will keep the exhaust gasses submerged so we won't have switch the exhaust to just one side.
  22. Oil filter relocation: 5/8" ID hoses with 150 degree and 90 degree AN ends. engine connections: filter mounted to front starboard engine mount.
  23. Spruced up the wiring for the sound system, reconnected the tower speakers and added a 12" Polk sub to the kick panel. Also added a small digital volt meter (above heater vent) so I can see what the battery voltage is when I power up with the Perko switch. I cut the kick panel into two pieces so there is a smaller piece on the left that can be removed to access the batteries.
