Does anybody feel like selling their Avalanche?
builtforspeed replied to Bren's topic in Centurion Boats General Discussion
that is a decent price for that boat if it has a quality stereo and perfect pass . i bet the nada is about $39,000 for that boat. -
Tragic story, weather is a strange bird sometimes . I always keep a weather radio /cb with us on the boat just in case phone does not work and upgraded to a water proof phone. godspeed

your tag name actually brought back a lot of memories. one i grew up in long beach and spent almost every weekend at the river or lake havasu. that patch is 40 years old and i think i got it when i was ten, i am no spring chicken. but it sounds like you have spent a lot of time there as well . when i was there it was foxes and sundance floating bars were the cool hangouts and the winners circle steak house, but again this was in the 70's early 80 . now it looks like all the boats are 30 ft long and day glow colors , mostly what i have seen in photos of havasu. went to a lot of boat drags there as well ( my uncle nick miller of miller racing use to race there) fun times for sure , i bet you have some good stories , such a long haul there from long beach ,but nothing like driving through the desert in the summer especially at dusk and dawn. cheers rvr -

Took on water, first lake run this year
builtforspeed replied to jayz-23's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
Hey jayz, I just changed out my seal for a pss , i bought it about a year ago but waited to install. anyways if you do install your self and decide to not remove v drive , i found an easy way to compress bellows to its proper length without a second person pushing on it, worked great . proper compression of bellows is key on pss seals. good luck. pm if you need tip. -

I have found that a little soap and water and a soft bristle brush does wonders for getting dirt out.not expensive, then third on the 303 it is not greasy or oily like some others, apply after cleaning with soap and water -

V-Drive & Transmission Fluids
builtforspeed replied to dmigas's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
I will pass on the advice i received when i bought my boat used, when in doubt change it out. i may be the only one but i have never seen transmission fluid that looked dirty, not sure what it looks like . oil is easy . i think changing fluids is about a 3 on a 10 scale of difficulty on v-drive and trans but somebody else may say different . good luck. -

sell it to a landscaper on craigslist. -
I talked my wife into running up to berryessa on sunday, we usually sit out the holidays because of the crowds but i was jonesing to try out my new pss shaft seal, and wow no water in bilge ,super cool feeling knowing there is no water in boat except from getting in and out and filling extra bags. So pretty fun day, not super crowded and found a spot to do some surfing. anyways we head back to launch at the end of the day and i run up and get truck, in the interim a guy is pulling his wake setter out right next to us maybe 4 ft between us and out of no where comes this jack off on a jet ski with someone on the back and tries to pull in between me and the malibu and Bam hits the malibu and puts his foot out to push off my boat,( mind you there is no trailer waiting for this guy and there is three docks his buddy could have jumped off onto). so as usual i told the guy he better not hit my boat, haha stare of disbelief. Does anyone else have some good holiday stories.

holiday weekend stories

So true, I find people sort of amazed that you want to help. I towed a guy and his wife about 6 miles back to where they launched and the guy tried to give me a hundred bucks.b -

The dealership where the boat was stored and purchased is a centurion dealer but it seemed like no one was buying centurion boats in this area . he is the only boat dealership in this area sans hillside. I know he sat on some inventory for a while but the prices were absolutely reasonable ,like i said i almost bought a boat from him. anyways he had the 230 for 59 and change a new 233 for 64 i believe and a avalanche that was reduced to 49 ,like i said they were there for a while, In the interim he had this boat that he had sold to a friend that was for sale because of lack of use , so it has been for sale for a couple years as well hence the low price ,I assume ,but you know how that goes. some one would be getting a nice boat at a good price .
-
pretty sure this boat is a 233 , i have been in this boat, cockpit forward, smaller bow area. not sure about the dash.
-
when i was boat shopping i looked at that boat , that was a couple years ago. i was going to buy a new 230, but decided to buy a used boat. It is a super nice boat and i know it has been stored indoors at a boat dealership in petaluma. i would radio-edit it up but just need to stop buying stuff for a while.
