  1. Awesome.....thanks for the help. Im just going to assume its the worst and prepare for a new gear set/rebuilt tranny.
  2. Hey guys so today the wx was nice enough to pull the boat out and do some work. I wanted to go ahead and change the trans fluid and see what its like. A lot of the fluid was nice and clear/red. But after pulling the hose out of the dipstick hole, it was covered in a grey fluid with tons of extremely small metal flake....like almost a grey metallic paint. Im stuck at this point with thinking Ill just take it to the shop and say here, whats wrong? Any more thoughts? I still have not ran it on the water since the grinding noise, and now Im not sure if it even has the right amount of fluid in the trans.
  3. I do. I ran it with the thru hull valve open to see how much water it would suck in. It took nearly all of it from the hose with just a trickle coming out the thru hull valve. Its nice because if I shut the motor off before I close the valve from the water hose, it all drains out the bottom and not into the motor so there is little to no pressure build up.
  4. So today I built and installed a T-in to the intake side of the V-Drive so I could run it properly. Started up perfectly with zero noise in neutral. Ran her in neutral up to operating temp and could not replicate the noise. Now I know I need to get the trans in gear and get it up to temp but cant do that until I put it back on the lake. I'm leaning towards stuck ignition (fluke) since it only happened the last crank of the day last time out. But this time it was completely normal. If it makes the noise again I will film it right away. See pic for the T-in I built thanks to you guys.

  6. New to the Crew

Thanks guys. Posted some info in the maint forum but its coming from the trans or drive I think. Only happens in neutral, any gear and its dead quit. As soon as I move the shifter it goes away. Happened right as i was loading up. Engine at full normal temp. All fluid levels normal. I will definitely become a member soon. Thanks guys.
  7. I just switched to the 1579 and its fantastic for surf, but does destroy the starboard wake. When wakeboarding, we really have to shift the people around to clean up that side of the wake. Its frustrating but I'm thinking about just throwing a few sandbags in the starboard locker when I need to clean it up. The wife enjoys surfing so I'll stay with the 1579.
  8. Hey guys, Brand new here and wanted to say hi. I have been boating from as early as I can remember but recently bought my first centurion. Of all he boats I've owned I really am blown away at the overall quality of the boat, wouldn't change anything. Look forward to learning from you guys. My boat is a 2008 Lightning C4, with the black scorpion. This winter I plan to replace the skylon speakers and racks, and upgrade the factory ballast but cant think of anything else. Unfortunately I posted already in the maint section about a grinding noise that just happened yesterday, but I'm sure it will sort out.
  9. Hey guys, I am brand new to the forum, and hate to start my first post with a maintenance question but I need help. I have a 2008 Lightning C4. Boat only has 102 hrs on it. Yesterday when getting ready to load the boat back on the trailer, I reversed out of the dock, and once I went back into neutral a loud light grinding noise was coming from the somewhere in the tranny/drive. Went into and out of forward/reverse with no noise at all, only when in neutral. I read some places that people suggested possible stuck ignition, but others mentioned damper plate. When it stops raining I will hook up and run it in neutral on the trailer to see if I can replicate/trouble shoot. Checked the fluid levels, all are normal and very clean. Appreciate the advice.
