  1. Coast Guard Decal

We had Zebra Muscle inspections a few weeks back and included in that was a safety inspection. They were Washington Fish and Wildlife Officers, therefore, fully commissioned police powers and some federal commissions depending on where they work. Basically MANDATORY but honestly the officer doing my inspection did not even get in my boat. She just asked me verbally if I had all of those things. I did see other officers checking on the boats for the required items and they did send ppl home for not having those items or registrations even. No stickers here, just a nice pink slip to show later. In terms of searching your boat, here they CAN legally search any place that the invasive water species can be located or anywhere that fish or wildlife could be located. Zebra muscles are the size of your thumbnail so........anywhere. (This is WA specific, I can't provide info for other states but would imagine it's the same). If you've answered that you're from an infected area; you better have a bone dry boat or they will take some action. They are scared of those things coming up here.
  2. I also need one, 06 Lightning.
  3. Ballast pumps not working

Oops, guess I should have looked there first. Apologies.
  4. I have a 2006 Lightning C4, the hard tanks are currently back in there. Yesterday I started filling the ballast tanks and the engine was off. I decided to turn the engine on and after I did that, the pumps would no longer pump water in, they don't even turn on. The switch lights up but nothing happens. However, they still pump OUT. What gives? I checked the fuses under the dash....any ideas?
  5. stickers on boats

No kidding it's a good looking boat.
  6. stickers on boats

I have the same question; how much?boatwrap2.bmp
  7. 2 questions...

Just checked, put a flashlight to the drain, appears to go into the bottom of the boat somewhere?? no hoses or anything. I also still had water around the battery but when I feel the water I think it's actually from one of those moisture absorber pods I had in there over the winter and accidentally left in on the first trip and it spilled. That water is super wierd feeling and it basically never dries up, very slimey and sticky after it dries on your skin. I feel better now.
  8. Considering A Change (new boat)

Are we talking bank repo's from gone under dealerships or from failed loans to private parties?? I haven't found many X80's as a repo and even then they were from private parties and asking as much or more than other ones I've found.
  9. 2 questions...

Whew you guys scared me for a bit there I have all kinds of wires running through there and I did notice recently that there was water under my battery which scared the heck out of me about where it came from. Lightning drains into the bilge I hope. Boards are NEVER left on the racks. I almost lost them just running across the lake once let alone on the road. Always into the floor or back of the truck. Also in our state if you fail to secure something like boards or anything you are hauling and they fall off into the roadway you not only can get huge fines but also be arrested if it causes injury to another driver. No bueno.
  10. Considering A Change (new boat)

Yeah I might forego the twin engine and look at other options. My other hurdle is going to be towing capacity on my truck (Not the one in the avatar but close). It would absolutely max out weight limits I think and even require "wide load" signs at night I was told.
  11. Considering A Change (new boat)

Wow lots of answers here but one overall message of "look out" for the leftover. The boats are both X80's, yes a 28' x 10' beast and so when I say bigger I meant much bigger. The 04' is a single engine (450) and the other is the twin engine version. So they were sitting on $200k+ inventory and have an 09 for 138k. They want $57k for the 04 and $73 for the 05 but I can find 06' twins for $68ish in pretty good condition. MC dealer is the NEW dealer here since Cope went belly up and both of those boats were sitting out at Cope down south of here until MC got taken away from them (pre-bankruptcy). The dealer said they would bring in a contractor to bring the boat back to "new" condition before delivery. I don't know how much I can talk them down on price given the current condition. In terms of time in the boat I probably use the it 40% social time, 50% wakeboarding and 10% surfing. Like I said I'm not unhappy with my Centurion at all and it handles the choppy water we have around here very well. Also one factor people keep talking about is the dealer relationship, quality, etc. We lost our Centurion dealers when Cope went under and they awarded dealership to a very (in my opinion) shady motorcycle/jetski shop which had no idea when asked if they were even able to work on my boat. I dont think I would ever take my boat to them for anything. I currently take it to a great Malibu dealer (plug for Bakes Marine in Issaquah) and they do great work, very nice guys, great to work with. The new MC dealership here has great reviews and they were very low key when I was on the lot looking. Nothing seems shady here and haven't heard anything bad about them yet. The manager personally took me to see the boats, has been very helpful answering questions and used to work for Cope but left before they went under because he felt they were very doing very shoddy business practices. I see several of you bought indoor stored leftovers but these definetly have been outside. What kind of mechanical issues could I be facing, both boat and trailer?? Asthetically I think it would be fine but thats not the expensive part. Thanks for all the input thus far.
  12. Ok so I am sure that I'm about to be thrown off the forum for mentioning a Mastercraft BUT, I'm considering a changeover, NOT because I'm unhappy with my Centurion, but because I my boating needs have changed. I need a bigger boat. I Just need some advice from boat people. My local MC dealer has a couple of leftovers but we are talking an 04 and and 05 that have been sitting out in NW weather for nearly 5/4 years respectively. I went to look at them and they are brand new but they are trashed from sitting in the weather but asking the same price or more as used ones that I feel have been meticulously cared for. The covers are thrashed/torn/faded, the interior is totally had some exposure to wind as there are pine needles inside. The trailer is scratched, tires low, wood guide rails are collapsing under the weight of the boat. Algea growing on the outside and the hull is going to need serious polishing/wax job. SO, with that said, any thoughts? Skip the new boat leftovers and find a cared for used one or ask for huge discounts and massive detailing? I get full warranty and such but at what cost? Thanks for your constructive input! (Throw stones now)
  13. Boat Launch Etiquette

Yes unfortunately it's not just the jetski's, there are plenty of Malibu and Mastercraft newbies up here too that clog things up by driving off the ramp, unable to back up, can't get the boat on the trailer, etc etc. BUT, this week it was the fish and wildlife officers checking for invasive water species and zebra mussels. Plus checking boat safety items (lifejackets, registrations, etc) The female officer was nice and schmoozed with us, quick and painless, I think we were done in less than 10. (NO this is not an opportunity to rip on law enforcement, they were chill) For fish and feathers. There's just no way I can get out on the water at 6am......I'm usually the 10-noon arriving crowd and we dont leave till sunset which means we get the great dusk water. And yes Carter we have a couple lakes like that up here but it's just too much for me to handle so Samammish works out best even though it's a good 40 minute drive which is nothing when compared to trying to launch on Lake Washington and nearly getting seasick from the terrible chop on it. Great Memorial weekend here in Seattle but headed to Shasta Lake in Cali on Weds for 5 days on the big houseboats! Anyone know any good spots on that lake??
  14. Boat Launch Etiquette

That's a pic of the launch I was talking about. Sunsets are awesome there and usually the crowd is gone by this time, great time to load up.
