I have a 2001 eclipse and I absolutely love it...we are slalom skiers mostly and the wake is super flat and very soft above 30 mph. i have tried to surf behind it but it doesnt have a large enough wave to get it done. Anyone have a super cheap method for weight in the back? It is a direct drive just so you know. Greg

So I just got back from a long weekend at the lake and..... the shaft was back to a trickle when I got there. YAY!!! I guess it just needed some time to sit and loosen back up. I re-tightened it to the proper drip drip drip this time. it only took about 1/4 of a turn to get to one drip every 5-6 seconds. I know it should be every 10 seconds but i felt a little more lube wouldn't hurt. Thanks for everyone's advice again and happy 4th! Greg

I am headed to the lake this weekend and will try to check it out more in depth while underway. what would be the fix to get it to drip again?

yup...going to try and make it through the summer...good thing my brothers mastercraft is going in the water this weekend...rebuild it is....thanks for all the advice guys g

So last year I had almost a trickle coming out of the packing. So before I put the boat in the water this weekend for the season I tightened the packing nut one full turn. I put the boat in the water and drove across the lake looked at the packing nut and no water is dripping... I loosened the nut to where it was previously and still no drip. what now??? help! Also you guys are great.... I really appreciate all of the help so readily available on here. Greg

So I tried the Lucas tranny fix in my tranny that seems to be slipping and.....it hasnt worked yet. only put an hour tops on the boat since i put it in. Also I only used about 1/3 of the bottle of tranny fix. Greg

Thanks....just going to try and get through this season and haul it back home. Boat is docked in VT and I live in CT...I have a trusted mechanic in CT that I want to use.

Prop spins when boat is in the water propelling boat gently forward...while throttle is in neutral.

I bought my 2001 eclipse dd 2 years ago and when I recently took it to a local shop the mechanic remembered working on the boat. It had a very similar problem. I am the 3rd owner and the first owner hardly used the boat because of the problem. I guess no one could figure it out and he sold it to the 2nd owner for cheap. Soooo, the mechanic told me he just could not figure it out and then he finally did. It was the gas line that ran from the tank to the engine was being pinched where 2 sections of the hull came together. The factory messed up i guess. He ran a new gas line and it ran fine afterwards. Have you tried contacting Velvet drive directly? I am having a different transmission problem... When mine is in neutral the prop still spins as if i have just engaged into forward...I emailed velvet drive directly and got a reply that same day...The guy who replied said that it sounds like the clutch is slipping and it would be $700 or so for a rebuilt one from them...anyone else have this problem?
