  1. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

David, Can you suggest a robust setup along the lines of what we have discussed?
  2. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

While I agree that the alternator probably isn't going to put out a full 220 amps, but I'm sure 160 amps+ is easily doable. If not, maybe an alternator from one of the many other dealers/ companies. So given all the options we discussed and my desire to have a setup that will not just work, but leave a good amount of reserves, what setup would you recommend? Still your original recommendation of 2- 27's or can we step up a bit? Thanks so much!
  3. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

I want to make sure that I have plenty of juice for 2 days with no shore charging. I hear you loud and clear, but I'm always a fan of overdoing it rather than just doing it. I'd like to have a pretty good amount of reserves, just in case. I'm looking at a few options here: 1. 2 group 31 (plus 1 for starting) with Charles Marine 93-12605SP-A (3x 20 amp banks) http://www.charlesindustries.com/main/ma_batchcch_ad2.html 2. 3 group 27 (plus 1 for starting) with Dual Sport Pro PS4 charger (4x 15 amp banks) http://www.dualpro.com/store/items/2/4/ In addition, I've been eyeing a 220 amp marine alternator: http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-7352-new-220-amp-marine-high-output-alternator-universal-mount-ho-marine220-se-1g.aspx Thoughts?
  4. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

Clarification: 3 batteries in the stereo bank PLUS a starting battery for a total of 4.
  5. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

So 3 group 27's would give me some extra play time and potentially give the batteries a longer life by not running them down so much? Or am I creating a larger bank for that alternator to have to fill? Also, why not use a battery isolater to automatically to the switching for me?
  6. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

How many batteries would you suggest for my stereo bank? I'm thinking of using Group 27 or 31. Id say no more than 2 hours are spent in a cove (I.e. motor off for long periods), and during that time the stero level is low to moderate. I'm on the move most of the time. Thanks for all the info so far...
  7. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

David, Thanks for the schooling in charging. Can you maybe suggest how you would setup a solution to my problem?
  8. Help Me Build a Battery Bank

So I upgraded to a 120 amp alternator but I know that it's a matter of time before it gets fried. I want to build a battery bank that is independent of alternator for my stereo so the alternator will only charge the starting battery. My amp setup: 1- Alpine PDX F6 (tower speakers) 150x4 RMS 1- Alpine PDX F4 (boat speakers) 100x4 RMS 1- MB Quart class D amp (sub amp; can't remember model#) 900x1 RMS I'd like to run enough batteries to run 2 full days without a charge. My "days" consist of 11am- 7pm (at most!) Is this possible? For charging, I'd use a dedicated Pro Mariner or Guest charger, once I get back home. I'd also like suggestions/recommendations on the charger. I've read on Wake World about the Deka batteries and I have found a local dealer. Deka's seem to be one of the best values as far as batteries go, but I'm still open. So how do I calculate how many batteries I need? Thanks!
  9. Critique My Surf Wake

Was the bow weight in the center or on the port side as well?
  10. Critique My Surf Wake

ISHMOO- no weight in the bow; just what I listed. Do you think it will help it?
  11. Guys, Finally made out yesterday for the first run of the season. Unfortunately I only had a partial day and one person (noob) with me, so I didn't get to spend any time on the board. I took the time to make sure the boat was running fine and play with the ballasts for next time. I took some video and some images of the surf wake. Didn't come out too clear in the vid but it looked great in person. It was like TORTURE not being in the water!!!!!!!! Anyhoo, tell me what you think...tips are always appreciated. Boat: 2003 Concourse 23' Ballast: 200lb stock center 750lb fly high in rear port locker 550lb fly high on seat port side (about middle of boat) 550lb fly high on floor port side (next to other 550) 11.6-11.8 seemed to look beautiful and smooth. In the vid, you can kinda hear me call out the speed. I also played with the trim tab a bit which created a worthless roosertail. You can clearly see when I was doing that. Tell me whatcha think! 12. I'd buy it just so I can have a conversation with the person who wrote that ad! Amazing!!!
