I'm not concerned with the engine temperature running through the fake a lake so much as it not taking in the water while at idle. Could be really annoying if I have to rev the engine while changing riders just to get suction. We are pro's now at getting to the impeller so if something does come up or start leaking we should be able to get to it no problem. Water testing tomorrow!!

Update- We got water to suck through the fake a lake, but had to crank the engine up to 1,100 rpm's for it to take the water. The engine ran close to normal temp around 180-185 (normal is 175). We checked the screens on the tranny cooler and there wasn't any blockage on either side. No visible leaks, every hose seemed good and tight. Any other thoughts/ideas?

We camp at North Bend Park over by the dam, not sure what buoy that's near. We travel over a few creeks to ride away from regular campground traffic. Is that anywhere near you?

Been to both several times and prefer Kerr over Gaston. We camp on Kerr over Memorial day weekend and feel like we have the place to ourselves

Hahaha yes we are sure we had the fake a lake hooked up to the correct through hull. Next thing to check is hooking the fake a lake up and giving the engine some gas. Hopefully it will sort itself out. I think we have narrowed the problem down to the fake a lake or the hose connecting the V drive to the through hull because the engine ran normal when inserting the garden hose directly in the V drive. Bcollins or anyone- where is the trans cooler? Our old impeller looked good but it can't hurt to check for blockage.

I'll check that the next time I get to the boat (next weekend). It's impossible for the water pump to go on backwards with this engine. Thanks for everyone's help so far. Anyone know if the pulsating at idle speed is normal?

Update- After running it for a minute we still didn't have water coming out and the temp started rising. We then began to troubleshoot and hooked the garden hose up first after the V drive and then before the V drive and got water through coming out the exhaust. However, it was pulsating like every 2 seconds it would take it and then not for 2. Once we increased the idle to took the water steady with no issues. Is this normal? We haven't had this happen before. Still no luck taking it through the fake a lake, not sure why that is. When we pour water down the hose that connects the water coming in the bottom of the boat to the v drive it comes out the bottom no problem so nothing is blocking it.

I unfortunately do not. We live about 15min north of Richmond and never ride near the Chesapeake. The thing looks clean to me though and I'm with Rhuntlll, you should get an easy 2k off for the chance it has seen salt water.

I have heard good things about these as well. One side of our boat cooks in the sun from sitting outside in the summertime which takes a good bit of work to keep it looking good. I know these are a little more expensive but if you are storing outside I would take a hard look at them.
