2002 Bowrider beeping and losing power at waterski speed

Hi, we have a 2002 Elite Bowrider. It has been running fine, but yesterday when my husband went out to ski it hesitated on getting him up then after a few minutes of skiing it started beeping and lost power. Any ideas, we are at a loss.
