  1. I like mine to the boat ran great all day yesterday...very happy with my purchase. Super, your endorsment definitely helped convince me the Dayco belts were a good option and not just a cheap alternative to the OEM belts. Anyone needing a new belt, or just a spare, should definitely take a look at these.
  2. I learned the hard way that you need to replace the belt regularly...haven't replaced since I bought the boat, so a long time. Got to the lake, started it up and it just squealed like crazy. I thought the water pump was locked up but it spun pretty easy. Tried to tighten the belt but didn't really have the tools. Got home, pulled the belt and then the pump. Impeller was fine but I replaced it anyway since it had been a year...I try getting two years out of them. Installed the pump and belt and got the same squeal, belt wasn't turning. Pulled belt, definitely felt soft and worn but wasn't frayed, etc. Took it to autozone and grabbed a dayco 5060875 (350 MAG MPI). I could definitely tell the difference between the new belt and my old worn out one. Put on the new belt, ran like a charm. Will be ordering another belt for the spare parts bag. I don't know what he difference is but the dayco belt was $30 and the mercruiser belt was around $90 at the shop. Moral of the story, replace it regularly even if it seems to be working...I was just out a couple weeks ago and it ran great all day.
  3. Glad you and your family are okay. You here about these things from time to time but very rarely do you ever here it from the perspective of someone that experienced it. I commend you for going out of your way to help those around you.
  4. I do, ha...every year I wait for it to die and every year it keeps on keeping on. I think it's mocking me because at least if it dies I would have a good excuse, as far as the wife is concerned, to replace it. tombugg, do a search for pilot and you'll find 100 threads about what to replace it with, why is it doing this or that, etc.
  5. This, far and away the most important upgrade...they don't call it the "marriage saver" for nothing.
  6. Because it's the pilot, that gauge is known for doing that...you're voltage might be a little low and it will start flipping out on you. You're probably fine as long as the volt meter on your analog gauge says you're good. It can become pretty annoying though.
  7. wow, very nice. Goo gone worked great for me to remove the sticky residue from the pads.
  8. surf board repair

I just used some solarez this weekend to fix my son's surfboard, ocean, that had a nice tail ding. Used a sandwich bag to cover it and help it retain it's shape like rhuntlll mentioned. so easy, it actually dried pretty clear which was nice. It will come out as nice as you are willing to take the time to make it. I got a little tired of sanding it to make it perfect but I was somewhat impressed with my work.
  9. I can't say for certain but when I pulled my hard tank to install the steering cable I noticed a little more room in there but not a ton. I can't imagine anything real significant in weight fitting down there and with soft bags you're going to probably need to get something custom made to maximize the space and to avoid bulging of the floor, etc. I think in the past a few people suggested lead weight to fill the gaps. If your boat is anything like mine, 2002 Cyclone, you should be able to easily pull up the portion of the floor directly over the center tank and check it out. Good luck, interested in what you figure out as I've pulled mine out and have always wondered what I should do with that area.
  10. surf board repair

While I agree what RhuntIII posted is absolutely the "correct" way to fix a ding I honestly wouldn't go through all that trouble for those dings plus fixing the nose ding that way is going to be a chore. I would probably use Solarez as well if it was mine but if you want it a little cleaner looking the resin is good as well...just more work. I wouldn't waste time with glass for those dings. Anyway, good luck.
  11. Bummer, good luck Jmorlan...I hope you find him. My only suggestion is to continue checking back with the shelters as that's likely where someone will take him. I think they update their sites with the animals that are brought in but it can take a couple days. Is he chipped?
  12. surf board repair

Not sure if the best but you could probably just get a little bit of fiberglass resin and fill the one and paint on a little on the other to make them water tight. Just sand it a bit before hand. This is a purely functional fix and is what we used to do when our ocean surf boards would get dings..that or shove some wax in there. I used to just duct tape around it to make it a little easier to clean up. They also have some stuff called solar rez but it doesn't dry clear and is kind of ugly but it's a quick fix for when you're camping, etc. and you get a ding. Good luck.
  13. Beaching boat

I never beach, always anchor. Kids like to play on the swim deck so I back in and anchor it to where they can jump in and I don't have to worry about grounding the prop/rudder. Plus I live in CA so we've got the quaga mussel problem so beaching is a bad idea anyway. I don't have an anchor buddy but I've been considering it for awhile...seems like a great idea.
  14. Steering Cable

Did the wheel turn freely before the install? I would probably disconnect from the helm and make sure it's lined up correctly, and test the steering wheel if you didn't remember doing that before, but honestly when I did mine I can't remember really being able to screw that up. Seems odd, could be a bad cable but I would be surprised unless you left it sitting in a tub of water. Any chance you had to muscle the cable in somewhere and it got a kink in it?
  15. Well my son already grew out of his bindings and now I'm looking for something that fits a size 6. Anyone got anything laying around they're not using. He's been riding for several years so something semi decent would be preferred. I also have a basically brand new pair of the kids domain boots. They're a couple years old but are basically brand new, got them brand new last year. I would put them in the classifieds but I would rather just trade them for something. I may keep them for my younger son but he has yet to get on a wakeboard and I already have a decent enough pair on the board he'll ride. Anyway, let me know or if you see a good deal that's cool to. Thanks in advance.
  16. Wakeboard boots for size 6

Maybe, let me see what you go but yeah he's barely a 6 so might be a tad to big. He's pretty intermediate at this point so I am definitely looking for something that he can progress with. Thanks Mancho!
  17. Wakeboard boots for size 6

No one....fine, I'm taking my ball and going home.
  18. If money isn't an issue then I would just buy it directly from Perfect Pass. Get the stargazer edition (GPS) if you're not running on a river...something to do with moving water screws up the GPS readings. Onlyinboards.com might have a deal as well. I was actually able to piece one together when the stargazer first game out but you to do some looking around for parts and get the remainder directly from PP. Do the install yourself, it's a piece of cake. PP is great because no matter how well you drive boats or how much experiece you have you 1) just can't beat something that adjusts 1000+ times a second and 2) the people driving you never drive as well as you do. If you're doing audio just cut to th chase and get wetsounds. You'll never have to replace them. Well, until the new wetsounds stuff comes out. Again, congrats....nice looking boat.
  19. Congrats Joey, nice looking boat. Much nicer than my first boat. I can't tell from pics but if it doesn't have Perfect Pass that would be my first purchase over even a tower. You don't need a tower to surf and you can always get one of those extended booms, since it's a DD, for wakeboarding. Best money I ever spent. Just my two cents.
  20. New owner what oil?

Ditto^^^ Do a search, there's been a few threads on this topic.
  21. CRAIGSLIST FINDS

I have a rack on one of those swivel mounts. Found out pretty quick my bimini get in the way and it's pretty much a waste of time. I think the newer towers and intergrated biminis do a better job of making these work but you definitely want to make sure you have the room to swivel the rack with the boards on them.
  22. CRAIGSLIST FINDS

Yeah, they probably could have just left him out of that video. Dudes got some skills though.
  23. Good advice, thanks Dezul. I thought it would be a nightmare getting to them but I actually got down there the other day and was able to get to most of them without to much trouble...in theory, I didn't actually take any out. Getting a wrench in there might not be fun but I can't imagine it's any worst then pulling the water pump for impeller replacement.
  24. whoo hoo, we're back on Nah, I was going to do it anyway. Got a buddy that's a mechanic/autobody guy so figured if it ran rough afterwards he could take a look at it. Thanks for everyone's encouragement. Wasn't planning on doing the plugs, but how long should those last?
  25. Come on Cheif, they said this was going to be easy I have no idea how to go about doing that. I'm mechanically challenged.
