  1. 2016 fs 44

so apparently there is an inline fuse that is hard to get to leaving the alternator, and it was fried. we replaced it without a fuse and the guy said the main breaker would blow if there was a problem...he said the fuse was a stupid redundancy that is hard to fix. so we're good now.
  2. HI guys, We keep getting an RPM error, which when we run the code, it is a voltage fault (spn 168 FMI 17). We get the fault after we have been boating for 3-4 hours, it is now very repeatable. We also notice the voltage starts around 13, and slowly drips down to under 10, and then rapidly will drip down to 7-8, and we're done. We have had to jump start it twice on the lake to get it back to the dock. Sounds simple, but we have tested both batteries, they are good. We even replaced one that was older (even though it tested good), in hopes that was the problem. We took the alternator off and had it tested at an alternator shop and it came out just fine (oem alterator, 300 hours on the engine). Our conclusion is simply that the batteries are all charged up when we leave the house (because we always plug it in when its sitting),but clearly they are not being maintained by the alternator when out on the lake, and we run down over 3-4 hours. Our boat has 3 stereo amps that suck power as well, but we even turned off the stereo last time and it still happened. We are thinking alternator, or cabling problem to the battery? Any suggestions? Its at an alternator/battery shop now. We're having the alternator and pathways tested again. thanks, as always
  3. Has anyone put this on? 2016 enzo single exhaust. "Eddie marine flanged exhaust". Ya'll fixed a recent issue for us, thanks. So we were on the lake for 5 days and the port side ramfill exit motor failed, looks like there is a ramfill exit gate and a ramfill enter gate, this is the exit gate, in the back behind the engine. It was stuck open, so we were listing, because whenever we would stop it would fill up. And as we drove away it would drain out. We manually closed the gate to surf and that worked fine while we were out there, but that's a pain, obviously. Anyway, is it the little motor? Its the Valtera gate system, not drainmaster. It looks like it would be easy to replace the little motor. Any links to a new one? or is there a way to fix the old one? JB
  4. volzalum: Just an update. we did buy that stainless exhaust tip and installed it, it works great, was pretty easy to do. a couple of updates: i got a smaller prop with a higher pitch, that lowered our RPMs down to 3800/3900 for surfing, much better. we were getting RPM alarms fairly often. also, when our exhaust tip was missing, we did get a few alarms from a C02 sensor, i'm assuming that some fumes were getting back up into the engine compartment. once we placed the exhaust tip on, it stopped happening. thanks for your help.
  5. we actually do have some prop burn, i'm going to patch it, i think. and every once in a while, when we are surfing with a big load (full ballast and lots of people), we will get a critical engine fault with RPMs sign and alarm. we stop. let it rest for a min, and everything is totally fine and we go again. temps are always fine during that whole event, too. I have read that if you have the wrong prop at altitude, you may be overstressing the engine. So, if i switched to a smaller prop, even though we'd be gaining RPMS while surfing, and lose some top speed, we would be doing better for the engine. thoughts on that?
  6. thanks volz. i was hoping you'd reply, because I wanted to ask about the prop too----you seem to know everything. we are running a acme 1615 prop, on my 16 fs 44. was thinking of changing to a high altitude prop recommended by wakemasters. ACME 1939 ACME 1433 ACME 2571 we use it at lake powell, but most of the year we are at high altitude lakes in utah. thanks.
  7. HI everyone. Ya'll fixed a recent issue for us, thanks. 8. we can move the gate up and down with the metal lever easily. we just disengaged the little plastic arm so we can move it. and we stopped trying to control it with the computer for the weekend. but we should try to lube everything and put the plastic arm back on and see if the computer will control it. i suspect it will. shouldn't need to replace that little motor. OTOH, i'm sure that gate gets the most use on the ramfill system, so maybe that little gate motor is worn out.
  9. btw....talked to the dealer mechanic. my impeller is 200 hours old. He said that even though there isn't a specific impeller sensor, you will absolutely set off several sensors in the engine and it will alarm, if you have an old impeller that is still working, but not working great. i'll be replacing the impeller tonight, i'm hoping that there is some damage to the fins, if there is, i think that explains it. i also need to clear some codes.
  10. Hi guys. Been following this forum for a while, so helpful. So we have a 2016 fs44 with 240 hours now. Last week it alarmed while surfing with about 10 people in the boat and a lot of ballast. we took a break and removed some ballast and it was fine. Same thing happened the next day. Then last night, same thing, but then we got a consistent beep afterward while surfing, although it ran fine. I can't understand the codes it is reading on the engine diagnostics page. So, my dumb question: would an impeller cause all of this? I think the impeller is old and we were planning on replacing soon, my thought was to start there. If it was not working as efficiently as it should, would it cause the all stop alarm a few times while surfing? We have not had a complete overheat. And it only happened while surfing with lots of ballast and lots of people. I'm doing the impeller regardless, but does anyone think that could solve it all? Would a dying (but not dead) impeller cause beeps when the engine gets stressed? I would guess it would. Thanks jb
  11. okay, where is the water screener (filter?) to check if i have something stuck in there, or a piece of the impeller in there? and how do i get this diacom software?
