  1. I have a PCM ZR409 engine, version without antifreeze (water circulates in the block and manifolds). The problem started two years ago. The symptoms are the same as here: http://www.centurioncrew.com/index.php?/forums/topic/11155-fault-codes/ Also errors SPN: 441, 442. This year, after reopening, first these errors were issued even at idle. After replacing the impeller and thermostat, the problem began to appear only on the go under load, as in the past two seasons. When I ride a wakeboard, or when I go with a left wave for a surfer (the load is more), I get errors on overheating of one or two collectors. Occurs after approximately two minutes of wakeboarding or five minutes of surfing. At the time of the error, the emergency mode is activated for a short time, after a few seconds of reset, the power itself is restored. This is enough for the wave to break and the rider to fall. But if the engine is turned off at this moment, the water circuit starts to go crazy: it makes sounds of hissing or gurgling in the area where water enters from the v-drive into the thermostat housing, and pressure drops in the cooling system are felt on all soft hoses, video How soft hoses twitch and shrink for a second. As if the water boils in the hoses for a second, then it does not boil for two seconds, and history repeats itself. After ten seconds of idling - everything is fine until I again give the load. The following work was carried out: replacing the impeller assembly with the housing, replacing the thermostat assembly with the housing, checking all the hoses, flushing the engine and transmission heat exchangers, flushing the manifolds with acid (now they shine like new inside), replacing the emwt sensors, checking the v-drive on object of contamination. Can exhaust risers affect overheating in this way? Has anyone encountered such a problem?
  2. My 2015 ZR409 exhaust manifolds are overheating then my boat goes into some kind of limp mode. My ZR409 has coolant in the engine block and fresh water in the manifolds with a heat exchanger in the rear. No engine light is coming on and the water temp is reading normal. What I think is happening is the exhaust manifolds are getting clogged up? When I pull the plugs on the manifolds I get a lot of debris coming out with the water that looks like silt or hard water that has been baked onto the inside of the manifold then has flaked off. This is the second time this has happened, the first time was only about 20 hours prior. Do you think I'm correct in assuming that the overheating is due to the manifolds getting clogged? If so is there anything I can do beside pulling the four plugs and removing the debris? Could my issue be something completely different and if so what can I check?
  3. Hello all, I've been shopping for a ski boat for a while and have recently found a 1994 Lapoint that despite a rebuilt engine (Work completed attached) has overheating issues when under load. will idle forever without overheating. Since its been through a shop getting work done I would assume (I know, assuming can make an tush of u and me) they'd already troubleshoot the impeller, thermostat, and piping. Other than maybe the thermostat housing being clogged, is the next thing to check down the list the risers and manifold? Any advice on this would be great! TIA
  4. Recently purchased a 2002 centurion eclipse only has 230hours on the motor. boat is in great shape in all aspects but took the boat this past weekend and noticed an unusual overheating issue. Boat ran absolutely great first time I had it out a couple weeks ago. This past weekend I took it on Saturday to a cove where we would have everyone meet up at and camp. I parked the boat for most of Saturday. Sunday morning when the lake was like glass decided to take the boat out, after about 5 minutes out the audible warning started going off, I looked down at the temp gauge and it was all the way past 220. I shut the motor off waited about 5 minutes and restarted the boat, temp had leveled out so I drove it back to the cove very slowly around 5-10mph and the temp maintained well. After a few hours I went out to the boat and turned it on and let it run in the cove for about 15 minutes at idle, I opened up the engine cover made sure there was nothing in there that could be causing issues, couldn't see or feel anything. After 15 minutes boat still maintain good temp, oil PSI was perfect and the boat sounded great. Later on in the day we wanted to do some tubing so we tried taking the boat out, as soon as I gave it some throttle to get up to speed I could see the temp gauge rising rapidly and got almost to audible warning temp again, so I backed off and called it a day. I had to cruise back to the docks which was about 7 miles away, I cruised the boat the entire way at about 10mph and the temp was perfect the whole way there. I have heard of the impeller and thermostat causing similar issues but usually the opposite of my situation as it would overheat at idle but level out with throttle. So trying to see if anyone has a similar experience and can point me in the right direction, I will change the impeller regardless because who knows the last time it was changed. But any other information would greatly be appreciated, as we have another weekend planned and I would like to actually enjoy the boat this time. THANK YOU!!
  5. I have my 2010 Centurion Enzo SV240 moored on a lake that tends to get a lot of milfoil during the July/August time period, wreaking havoc with the water intake and cooling system/impeller. I'm considering installing a sea strainer after the shut-off valve on my water intake, catching the milfoil culprits. This is the system I'm planning to put inline: www.bakesonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=1076 Have other people done this? What are the pros/cons? Thanks. Don
