  1. Our 02 Avalanche with the black scorpion motor is give us intermittent issues (hate those!). Problems started beginning of last season (2020) when we ran her out of fuel on our way at the end of the day. Next time out, just after putting her into the water she would start, but idled rough and when throttle was applied it would die. Replaced the fuel water separator (after doing a quick good search) and it worked and did good the rest of the day. Ran good then next few trips out, then all of the sudden, almost out of no where it started doing to same thing (would start, idle rough and when throttle was applied it would die). Replace the fuel\water separator 2 addl times thinking maybe I sucked some crud up out of the bottom of the fuel tank but we are are still having intermittent issues so not sure that fixed anything. We'll go out on 2-5 separate day trips and run perfect (wake board, surf, tube). Then out of the blue it will leave us stranded (mid-day, beginning of the day, end of day on our way back at dusk). That was 2020 (great year!). Took to dealer, and based on what we described, they said the high pressure fuel pump was going out. The did a fuel pressure test and confirmed fuel pressure was lower than spec. So we replaced it April 2021. Fuel pressure came into spec with new high pressure fuel pump. Took it out and ran great! Problem solved...NOT! The very next weekend it did the same thing and left us stranded! Spark plugs were replaced and injectors clean in spring 2020 (had some other work done at that time). Pull the distributor cap and saw minor very wear\buildup on cap anodes (not sure what they are called). Didn't see any green icicles or buildup. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!
