  1. Got a 2005 Centurion avalanche with the walk through transom... it looks like there is a way to install a large cushion like the other sides storage hatch lid.. anyone know if centurion made an option you can buy or is there any aftermaket available? Also any one know where i could buy a new fiberglass swim step so i can replace my teak one? Its in great shape just too small... Thanks
  2. I'm a newby to the site and I recently purchased a 2003 Avalanche. This is my first my first wake/surf boat and I need advice on how to set up the boat for surfing. The factory locker ballasts have been replaced by wave maker 1100lb. sacs in each locker and it also has a factory center ballast. Is this boat capable of a surf wake? How much weight in the ballasts? Trim plate position? Please help!
  3. Hello, I am selling my 99 Malibu Sunseter VLX with SV23 Wake Hull (same hull as Wakesetter till 2005) for a budget surf boat. I currently have my boat set-up with 600#'s in each rear corner, 500# in front under bow seating, and surf gates. The boat does produce a good wave that is easily surfed ropeless on a smaller board… but I want a much better wave! I need a boat that will throw a great goofy wave, be more comfortable in the chop, and more spacious. I have narrowed the search down to the Avalanche C4, an Enzo with reversed prop rotation (I have seen many of these around the same price as the Avalanche C4), and some Tige models such as the 22V, and maybe an RZ2. My budget is up to 39000. Since my wife will be driving and is comfortable driving a balanced weighted boat, I don't want to have to list the boat to extreme angles to get great results. That will freak my wife out! Have any recommendations?? Thanks guys!
  4. Looking for advice on getting the best wakeboarding wake. I like steep, hard wake as far as shape goes. Current Setup: 2004 Avalanche C4 (350 Mag) Dual 800# sacs in the rear Stock center tank 250# About 400-500# in the bow 911 prop Running 23.7 MPH Wake is pretty good but I'm wondering if any changes would make it better. Specifically, do I have too much in the bow? I've heard Avys don't need much bow weight. Should I add more in the rear? Or would adding a sac on top of the floor over the center tank help to make the wake more firm? Any help is much appreciated.
  5. Can anybody share what the sizes or part # are for replacement idler/tension pulleys for an 07 avy with 5.7 mercury black scorpion? The chirp and squeal is annoying already.
  6. Does anyone know the hull angle for a 2010 avy. We're getting our a-plate made tomorrow, but unfortunately I forgot my protractor when we went to take measurements. Somewhere around 15 - 20 degrees I figure. Thanks in advance!
  7. 2004 Avalanche C4 with 350 Mag Merc I am having issues with voltage. I'll start with what I'm running. 2 Jabsco Reversible Pumps (only use while engine is running) 2 Stock aerator pumps for center tank. 2 Amps - Kicker 300watt RMS for tower speakers & MB Quart for in boats and 8" sub. 2 Batteries with Blue Seas Add-a-Battery system (has switch w/On, Off, Both & isolator charging relay) Stock Alternator (at least I think it's stock, not sure what amps) This is the problem I'm having. Without ballast full I have no issues with voltage. But when all ballast is full (2,300lbs) and on plane, voltage begins to drop to around 10 volts and low voltage alarm beeps every few seconds. Nothing stops working. Perfect Pass stays on, stereo stays on, and all dash stays on. But voltage gauge reads 10 volts and the alarm keep beeping. When off plane, voltage returns to normal 12-13 volts. I plan to replace the power hungry reversible pumps with Tsunami pumps for speed and less power consumption. I did not have this problem until I upgraded the rear ballast from twin 450lb sacs to 800lb sacs. I'm wondering if the voltage regulator is malfunctioning under load or if I just need an onshore charging system?
  8. Last trip of the season my Avalanche went into power reduction mode. I was cruising around and then backed off the throttle at which point I got the buzzer every minute and no throttle. I turned the boat and batteries off for about a minute and then back on and the throttle operated normally for the rest of the day. My engine information is: Year: 2006 Make: PCM Excalibur 330 Model: 15-570V-01 (5.7L 350 CID LH MPI) (GM) Serial #: 462755 Firing Order: 18436572 Manuf: 6/21/2006 I went ahead and bit the bullet and got the TechMate Scan tool from Rinda Technologies to see what was going on under the hood. This is the information it provided: Code 81 Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) Fault TAC Error, PPS 1&2 Correlation Fault TAC Error, Limited Authority In the PCM Digital Throttle Control Diagnostic Supplement (attached if anyone needs it) it lists a variety of combinations, but this exact combination isn't mentioned. Anyone experience this and what the fix was? This happened last year as well and the shop replaced the Throttle Position Sensor on the Throttle Body. Digital Throtle Control Supplement.pdf
  9. So I have spent the majority of the day reading through just about every post on ballast upgrades and decided to tackle a first draft of some plans to upgrade my factory ballast for surfing. The boat is a 2007 Avalanche with the walk-through transom and I plan to only surf the port side but will also still wakeboard. It is a Storm Series, and has the hard Port and Center, and bag under the walk-through. There is one fill pump that goes to 3 diverter valves in the back for independant control, and each ballast has an independant drain pump. My goal was to maximize the existing factory system while upgrading and adding to it using all of the information that I've read through on this site and some of the other external blogs about Avalanche ballast upgrades. The attached is what I think I would start out with to upgrade the pre-piped factory system. Once I get to surfing and see what this shapes up to be, some of the other ideas I would encorporate would be additional sacs on the seats, brick on the platform, etc. Anyone care to offer feedback or thoughts on this? Seems inline with the general consensus and what folks have recommended. 2007 Avy Ballast Upgrade Design.pdf
  10. Just got my bimini in from Fineline. I had been looking for a bimini for the Evo tower for quite some time and finally bit the bullet on one. I've read a bunch of posts for others that were looking for something so just thought I'd share. Metcraft was the OEM for the tower, bimini, and racks back then but had gone out of business. I had previously talked to Centurion after learning that and they said they had the plans to make one. Looks pretty nice so far! When I get it installed (will be 2 months until I can do it) I'll post more pics of the final installation in case anyone wants to see how it turns out.
  11. I currently have a 2005 Elite C4 with a pro flight g force tower on it. I have to say, I have been satisfied with it but due to a recent move I cannot get it in to my garage unless I completely remove it. I had some minor issues while putting it back together, but spoke with Tim today and he was very informative and getting some new harware out to me. While speaking with him he mentioned there is a modification that he can make to collapse the tower down even further. Has anyone done this modification? Any comments, concerns, thoughts?? Thanks a million and l have give props on the website!!! Great work.
  12. Hi all, I just bought an 05 Avalanche C4 Storm series with built in hard sacks for port, starbort, and center. I NEED MORE WEIGHT!! So I was thinking of getting an Enzo Sac for the port side (dont care about the dark side really), and plumbing it into the existing hard sac lines for the port side. What do you think? There is currently a piece of wood screwed in between the rear compartment and the seat, has anybody had problems removing this? In addition I have a Side Swipe exhaust and am worried about the exhaust getting too hot and possibly melting the bag. Should I be worried, is it a problem, should i just build a box around it to protect the sac? What do you think of using the existing pumps, is it really worth it to upgrade price vs. time? Below is a pic of my current setup, 3 sacs around 400# plus 5 people in boat, im really looking to be able to surf with just a spotter and a driver. Thanks, Mark
  13. I mostly wakeboard/surf with about 1200 lbs ballast on my 2006 Centurion Avalanche 330 HP, used in the Minnesota lakes area. I think the stock prop is a Acme 497. Any suggestions for one more tuned for surfing/boarding?
  14. So.... The guy that I bought my boat from doesn't appear to be the brightest crayon in the box. He installed (or had installed) an OJ 14.25 x 14 prop onto a boat that can handle up to a 13.5 diameter prop. Needless to say, I have a nasty little gouge in the hull where the prop had it's way with the gel coat and fiberglass. Luckily! I have a contact who sells boats for a local dealership and he is setting me up with the guy that does all of his repairs. I am going to have him leave a small depression, where the damage currently is, so that I will not run into any "burning" of the gel coat when I put on a 13.5 prop. I have contacted ACME and narrowed it down to either the 1619 or the 1579, since I am going to do a complete ballast overhaul this winter and add 2850 lbs. of weight. I am not sure which prop I am going to get yet, because I will not know for another couple of weeks if I am staying here in Reno or moving to Portland. (4000ft elevation change) But I do know that I am going to sell the OJ, but unclear as to which boats it will fit on. If anyone can point me in the right direction of where to market it, or wants a prop to modify, I am willing to let it go for a good price.
