  1. XJ regarding the wake boarding wave: i found for for beginner riders, zero weight in the boat I was able to go much slower. At about 18 mph the wake started to clean up, however it was best when I slightly listed the boat to whichever side they were on. While my buddy was wake boarding (he's much better) I did 100% on both rear PNP, stinger plate at 40, and speed at 19.5. I would also list the boat to whichever side he was on for the cleanest wake. I have yet yet to wake board or surf on my new boat due to me breaking my collarbone in May and having surgery in the end of May, so I am trying to dial in my driving and learning the potential of the S238. For surfing, the dealer told me 100% both rear QF, surf side PNP 100%, non surf side 0%, trim at 0, surf tab at 65, and speed at 10.7. He said this is a larger shorter wave and good for smaller people Now for larger people (he was 6-01 and about 230lbs), he said he liked the same ballast set up but surf tab at 70 and speed at 11.7. He said this is a smaller but longer wave. As as for the Bimini top, I didn't get the factory one as well. There is a company in Utah called Sew Long, the Bimini better than factory, has way more coverage, along with 2 surf pockets. The place where I purchased my boat from in Utah (BoardCo) only sells their boats with these tops. Heres the link: http://sewlong.com
  2. Hello new guy here

I weighed my boat on my last trip and it was 7800 lbs. I only had 200lbs of lead in the boat.
  3. Hello new guy here

Thanks. Diesel is a little bit more expensive here but only 15-25¢ more a gallon.
  4. Hello new guy here

Thanks. I'm def considering a new truck. It sucks only being able to drive 200 miles max before my next gas station stop.
  5. Hello new guy here

Checking out your thread, I see you're towing with a diesel, what kind of gas mileage you get? I currently have a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L and it sucks. In ideal conditions (flat ground, lower elevation, and no wind) average 8-9mpg. If there is a head wind or any hill, I'll average 6-7mpg. So I'm looking at getting a diesel, I know it will be better, just wondering how much better.
  6. Hello new guy here

I found the less weight you have the slower you can go to clean up the wake. I have the PNP bags in the rear and about 200lbs of lead. I will get more. I will def check out your thread. Thanks.
  7. Hello new guy here

Have yet to have toddlers on the boat, but we usually put towels everywhere on the boat even when I had white vinyl. We just finished a 2 week houseboat vacation at Lake Powell when it was 105+ degrees. So I know how hot it gets. It cools down quick though.
  8. Hello new guy here

We do that and sit on towels. Works well. When we are out and about I don't notice any difference on the dark color versus the white.
  9. Hello new guy here

Thanks. That's true about the cooler.
  10. Hello new guy here

Thanks, it's a little hotter when sitting in the sun, but once you get moving it's great. I love the way it looks and have no regrets.

  12. Hello everyone, I am Will. I recently purchased a 2017 S238 and love it. Looking to dial in my wake and surf wave. Also looking at how to do my own maintenance. Thanks ?
