Heavy load "misfire" sounds?
Mrwick replied to jiriki's topic in Centurion Boat Maintenance, Performance, Troubleshooting
It doesn’t take long in a marine environment for a cheap/inferior ignition part to fail.....this is one of the few instances that I would recommend an OE part. FYI....last year my boat had a terrible vibration and I thought I had prop problem.....after a careful inspection of the drive system, I didn’t find a problem......just by chance, I pulled the distributor cap to find the electrodes completely corroded up.....replaced it with a quicksilver cap and rotor because I couldn’t find an MSD marine version.....Problem solved. Vibration gone and she had a lot more power as well! The cap I took off was a one year old Sierra. -
Bimini Top-Gladiator
Mrwick replied to Jakelegg's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
Sorry guys, I lied to you, I didn’t recover with Sharkskin, it was Top Gun! I have owned several new boats that have had Sunbrella covers and Biminis. Every one of them have developed holes or have unraveled at the seams. The seams aren’t necessary the materials fault. The holes that rub through on the frame of the Bimini tops I find unacceptable for as little use as my boats get. My boats sit in a climate controlled garage 99% of their life! I have read reviews on Top Gun and people swear by the product. I’m not running Sunbrella down, I am just searching for something that might work better......I will give feedback when the snow melts......... -
Bimini Top-Gladiator
Mrwick replied to Jakelegg's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
^ x2^^^^^^ I’m with infinity! I just had my top re-made by a local shop and it cost me $400........they used a material called sharkskin. My shop said it is way more durable than Sunbrella. It’s a little more expensive as well. They used my existing top for a pattern. The sad thing was there wasn’t anything wrong with the old top except my wife didn’t like the color....... -
Beautiful boat and the right choice! Plus, the ride with Ashley had to be worth the price of the new RI! Lol. ?

Nice little off-season project Rhunt! Looks great! I truly respect someone who takes the time to build projects like this on their own! -
MSRP is for 2 kinds of people, 1) People with too much money. 2) intellectually challenged Lol! Enjoy your new rig, H! She’s a beauty! ?

Does anyone on here ever go to the Denver boat show in January? Is it a good show? I was pondering a trip to check it out this year.....Thoughts?
-
That’s just it, at 144k, your only a few thousand away from the boat show price on a well equipt Ri! I will give it to Centurion, they’ve really stepped up their game with both exterior and interior styling and finish. Interior is on par with MasterCraft and Nautique now!

I sat in that very boat yesterday! It’s pretty sweet! Hope he enjoys it! -
I think you made a good choice for a new boat, H. I had a chance to crawl around a new FI this weekend and I really liked it! The one I looked at was 114k ......That’s getting into big-boy money but It’s probably worth it!

For the record, the Denver Boat Show is a great show for wake boats! It was a fun time!

I just got a quote for the same system...........it’s either an FAE setup or build another new stinger with a exhaust diffuser like the Ri’s. -

Which style did you go with? -
Terrain dictates what tow rig you need.....towing to our local lakes here in Nebraska, I use our 05 Escalade or on occasion, my 99 ram 1500 chore pickup.....It’s pretty flat!.....no problems. We tow 9 hours south to tablerock lake in southern Missouri a couple times a year.....I use my 07 ram Cummins 3500......it is better suited to pull my 226 full of lead and gear through the big hills and mountains of the Ozark's. My Escalade can do it, but just not as well. The advantages, other than power, of the diesel trucks is more weight and bigger brakes. These big boats can really push you around on steep grades!
-
Called them and they said they have everything for my 226.......took pics and sent them off just to be sure.....I’m pretty lucky because the transducer and plug are right under the vdrive access door.....should be an easy and cost effective project! Thanks again for the info!
-
That’s awesome! Thanks for the info! I didn’t see my boat on their list but I will call them to see if they can hook me up!
-
Omaha isn’t bad that bad......you will see Malibu, Axis, Mastercraft, and Moomba......I would like to see Tige, Supra, Nautique, Centurion, and Supreme as well.....heck, maybe even MB! Lol....doesn’t take much to make me happy !
-
I usually hit Omaha and Kansas City. Good shows but they are both pretty light on tow boats. If you’re looking for a pontoon....they’re perfect! Lol

wanted: tips for mounting FAE
Mrwick replied to bomoseen avy's topic in Centurion Boat Accessories, Electronics and Modifications
If I remember right I used their grade 5 option. I think they also offer grade 8 but I haven’t confirmed that. https://www.mudgefasteners.com/duracon/ For the record, these were used only for structural fasteners.....stainless was used everywhere else. -

I have also used a product called Dura-Con coated bolts.....it was for a saltwater brining tank......their claim is a coating on a high grade alloy steel fastener that has similar properties as stainless as far as corrosion goes. This might be an option. -

Call ARP and buy a premium alloy stainless fastener. There is a huge difference in tensil strength vs. the soft China stuff -
