  1. Freedom Powersports owns the Dallas territory for centurion. They are bad. I surf behind nautiques, master crafts, supras, Malibu’s, axis’s, regals, and more. I love the wave I can create with my Ri217. I put over 200 hrs surfing it in one year. It would have been 400 hrs if freedom’s service didn’t suck so bad. I’m trading my boat, for a better boat (not as great of a wave, but better boat), because my boat is always sitting in the parking lot at freedom Powersports and they don’t have the courtesy to even cover it. I didn’t get a boat to always have it in the shop. Freedom Powersports is busy fixing 4 wheelers and called me an big bird because I wanted my 1 year old boat that is leaking water in the hull put in front of the line. My lost summer due to poor service. Don’t buy a centurion if you live in dfw. I’m buying a nautique. There service here is 2nd to none. Centurion and freedom provide 0 support at cedar creek. Sad! >$100,000 mistake
  2. Ri237 vs Tige zx3

Centurion has way more options such as cat fin and setting rider profiles. Things like power tower nice fit and finish make tige’ one of my favorite boats. Dealership is too far away from where I surf and have my Lakehouse, and I’ve learned that service is key. Tige 23’ is #1 boat for money in my opinion (centurion was there, but my boat has spent 40% if it’s life in the shop). Tige, master craft, nautique, and centurion throw a mean wave. Supra throws a weird wave (a “J” wave). Best wave I’ve surfed is a master craft with 350 lead in the corner. Centurion and tige without lead are a close second
  3. Again, I giggle as someone calls me a troll as my boat is still in the shop....ok. Haha, don’t worry joke’s on me. Bad service isn’t a problem until it’s a problem.
  4. I find it funny that anyone could blame user for fiberglass hull leaks around fittings. Requiring fiberglass, gel coat and seals repaired. Guess it being my fifth onboard I fall in that category. Love the wave....hate that the boat doesn’t hold water. Counted today and boat has been in shop 7 out of 17 months.
  5. Just an update on my ri217. Another lost summer. Boat is still in shop with a catastrophic leak thru the hull. The nautique dealership couldn’t fix it. I took it 200 miles away to next closest centurion dealer in Austin to get fixed 3 weeks ago. Still no boat. Hope other boat owners are out enjoying Labor Day....It just blows. Buyer beware. Bad service isn’t a problem until it’s a problem!
  6. Jason sucks at freedom! I surf at the dam, under the low bridge by the ski school, and every once in a while on the north side. Headed to try a tig’e today. I offered to open a service center for centurion at cedar creek and they told me to pound sand. Buxton didn’t fix my problem. Centurion doesn’t care. My boat is in Austin at ski dock hopefully getting the last repairs under my ownership. What a nightmare. Wish I had this time to surf behind my boat instead of complain on this forum about their poor service! https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/boa/6678101151.html
  7. Best wave, worst dealer network. Boats have problems and centurion has slightly more than the average 6 figure boat in my opinion, so they need a little better dealer network if they want to demand the big bucks. Great waves that people talk about compared to getting to surf behind a boat that weekend (because it works) are a world of difference. I never want my boat down, and especially for weeks or months. Lemon law in Texas includes boat being in shop for over 30 days in a 24 month period. Mine is certainly in that category and it sucks cuz I can make magical waves for any surfer......when it works.
  8. Giving away my 2017 Ri217 for $91k to anyone on this site. Time to move on. Best wave available, but worst dealership on the planet. Buying a lesser boat for better service. My loss is ur gain. Caddyshack2000@gmail.com https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/boa/6678101151.html
  9. RI237 Ramfill

Here’s my trick to custom waves on the ri217. I pick my favorite surf mode and start driving at the preset 11 mph or so. We watch the wave until we like it. Meanwhile, over riding ram fill up to 3 times before it’s full. I’ve found it’s more of an art than a science. Full ballast means not as long of a wave. My wife prefers no pnp bags and about 90% ramfill. I’ve played with the wave for hours on end and would suggest driving into the desirable wave.
  10. Ri217 owners

The ri217 holds 8 very comfortably surfing for the day. The kids hang out on the transom seats most of the day in our boat. Transom seats are extremely important and are acceptable in the ri series. Best wave in the business, but make sure service is top notch or you will be bitter like me as the boat sits in a yard for weeks before the service department can touch it. Another lost summer due to poor service by freedom Powersports in dallasin Dallas.

  12. Trying the 2019 Supra se tomorrow and surfing the 2019 nautique friday. Either way, looks like my love affair with centurion is going to be over, because I require service. Hopefully the new waves can compete. Centurion needs to require a higher level of service from their dealers. I’ll report back my findings.
  13. Dealer service

Do not, and I repeat do not get that boat without great local service. I am going thru hell right now due to service. 25 hour $1000 service, impeller and oil changes every 50 hours thereafter. I’ve had dozens of warranty issues. My boat lives away from lift/dock due to slow/substandard service. I’m in Dallas. I’ve been talking to roger in tech support at centurion as the problem I have is my own if I want my boat this summer. I am paying on my own to have the nautique dealer fix my boat. I love my wave, but the service is horrific. I am forced to make a change due to poor service. Don’t do it!
  14. Thanks 4 the input. I’m going to pay the nautique dealership to replace the packing and see if it solves the problem. My bilge dumps gallons as surfing. The nautique dealer is like the Maytag repairman. They’ve been waiting to fix a boat. Nearest centurion dealership is in Austin. 3.5 hours away. I’m just gonna bite the bullet, pay, and submit bill to centurion. Fingers crossed they do the right thing. They are very aware of my situation. I am in love with my wave as I create custom waves for each surfer. I really just wish there was a reputable service center in the Dallas area.
