  1. Still in the market? I have an 06 avy c4 possibly for sale. 5025458132
  2. I have an 06 avy C4. I have factory tanks full, and a 750# in each locker, with a device stuck on the opposite side of the wave. Works like a charm, my speed is 10.7. Last weekend the device ripped off, so we improvised, emptied all water out of hard tank, put everyone on one side (large crew) for a good list (rub rail wet), and sped up to 11.2. still worked well, I just don't like listing that much.
  3. Alright everyone, this is more of a tow vehicle question. I have an 06 avalanche C4 I got back in March. My tow vehicle is a 2016 F-150 with the max towing package blah blah, it's rated at 11,500. I know this boat is well under the max towing. But I have warped two sets of rotors. Is this too much boat for my truck? My trailer's 4 wheel disk brakes function well, and I do brake properly while towing (I drove tractor trailers for the military, and have been towing trailers all my life). I'm on my second set of rotors and I'm taking it back into the shop for new ones. I don't dunk the truck wheels in the lake when launching, and never hit big puddles while braking heavily/down hills etc. Does this boat require a 3/4 ton? Or just need to get upgrading brakes on my F-150(which would make me mad, this is a 50K truck!!).
  4. I have an 06 Avalance on it's original boatmate trailer with disk brakes that are surge. I'm wanting to convert them to electric over hydraulic and possible using levelers and sway bar like a camper. Anyone have a clue where to start?
  5. Kentucky

I live in Frankfort. Boats stored in Lex. You’re welcome to crawl. 06 avalanche c4.
  6. I have an 06 avy looking to upgrade. Give me a text 502-545-8132
  7. I'm not near you as I'm in KY but I have an 06 avy C4. I use a wake shaper, two factory hard tanks and two bags on top, with that it makes a great wake for surfing, not incredibly tall because I don't slam it as much as sum, but plenty of push and I love it. Wakeboarding wake is a lot more finicky and I do factory hard tanks only and have to position people just right to get even waves but they have a lot of pop and good length. Mine has black scorpion motor which performs flawlessly. Great boat overall. I'll even sell you mine if the price is right, as I'm looking to get a newer Fi myself. 502-545-8132.
  8. Thanks everyone for the responses. Looks like I'll be doing the adulting thing and paying off debt.
  9. I'll ask an off topic question because I get great advice and information from you all. I tow my boat with a F-250 diesel. It's currently my only vehicle and has 98K mileage and growing. Average 17mpg. My work commute is 70 miles round trip and on top of that I drive all over God's green earth and drive on average 30,000 a year. I'm considering a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid that gets 28MPG for $7500. I recently got a heck of a check from the VA for back pay they should've been paying me all along for when I was in school and that would pay the majority of the car, and with some cash out of my account, I'd have the car paid off when it rolled off the lot. My question. Is this sensible? Or should I put all that money into debt and/or savings (I know there will be someone say blow it on the boat.... )? The way I calculate is as follows 20K miles (I still will drive the truck) Truck @ $2.49 a gallon - $2929 Car @ $2.19 a gallon - $1152 This means a yearly savings of $1,777 . I know i'll have minimal maintenance and insurance. But is this worth it? I'll probably trade the truck in a few years anyway (I don't keep cars very long).
  10. Oh I would for sure keep my truck. But I'd have the Car also. Let's not make this a brand war but what's your reasoning with your decision on car or no car?
  11. I've seen the dry weight ratings blah blah. I have an 06 avy c4. Curious if anyone has put theirs on the scale on the trailer with gas/gear.
  12. Thanks! This is what I was expecting ~ 6800-7000 pounds total with tongue weight.
  13. Is that counting tongue weight? Or was the trailer by itself on the scale?
  14. Is that on the trailer? How did you weigh it?
  15. Towing Avalanche with F-150

Great point. I hate not having that control. That is a hefty purchase, but it's a small drop for peace of mind and control.
  16. Towing Avalanche with F-150

What was the biggest plus you saw out it more than peace of mind?
  17. Towing Avalanche with F-150

You've peaked my interest. Do you have a link/info on setting that up? I really dislike not being able to control the gain.
  18. Towing Avalanche with F-150

Thanks everyone for the replies. So it sounds like the consensus, is the truck I have is fine, if I want to take it slow towing and baby it. I guess I'm spoiled by my many years of driving and I prefer to run speed limit. So for that I'm looking at 3/4 tons (2011 F-250 currently).
  19. Towing Avalanche with F-150

Thanks, it is under warranty. But it's been in the shop 4 times since I bought it new. The frustration is also a driving force in wanting a diesel, they're just built stronger, with less compromise in quality of materials.
  20. Towing Avalanche with F-150

I would disagree with daily driving habits, I never speed more than 5-10 over and always brake with enough space. The testing I've done on the trailer has been checking master cylinder, lines, brake pad/rotor "health". Slowly braking to make sure I feel the trailer brakes engage. Putting in reverse without hookup to make sure it holds when I put it in reverse(this simulates the surge from braking). Unless I'm missing a key testing step, I would say I've tested the trailer brakes well enough. If I've missed something, please point it out. Even driving down the large hills I do slow down and do nothing but the engine braking (which is awesome on the 3.5 ecoboost).
  21. Towing Avalanche with F-150

I definitely don't drive 60 on interstate and 10 under in town. I definitely don't slam the brakes, I brake appropriately, and with enough distance, no rider has complained. I do drive speed limit/~5 over in town, and 75 on the interstate. If that's considered "too fast" then I'll agree, and if that's why they're warping, I'll front the $$ to get a 3/4 ton to handle it. I use to have a Dodge 2500 that had the front end go out multiple times and recall so it got sold, but it handled the load wonderfully.
  22. Towing Avalanche with F-150

I know mine work too because I had them smoking after an emergency braking event bringing the boat home from GA. I think I'm starting to see a trend. *Most* people with half tons tow slower and shorter trips. My trips are minimum 40-50 miles one way and I drive 75 on the interstate and full speed limit in town. I think maybe that's why the half ton isn't holding up, I definitely admit I don't go easy on it, I'd be okay paying for heftier tow vehicle to tow like I want. I think it's driving tractor trailers in military, we were always in a "hurry".
  23. Towing Avalanche with F-150

You got 40K to give me? haha, I'm slightly upside down on my current truck sense I bought it new last year. That's the kicker.
  24. Towing Avalanche with F-150

I'm getting kind of ticked. I trade vehicles a lot and I bought this truck new March 2016, so the frustrated side is telling me to say screw it and go buy a 3/4 ton diesel and be done with it.
  25. Towing Avalanche with F-150

Both times have been under warranty, so they were Ford OEM rotors.
